Look, dating can be challenging. Certainly, it's exhilarating and enjoyable, but it's also frightening.
It all starts out being about the pursuit. He is attempting to gain your attention, and you are assessing his value.
In any romantic relationship, there is the point where both parties are so focused on the pursuit that they rarely give the following step a second consideration.
The pursuit then changes.
You decide you like the guy, and now that he has your undivided attention, he has to start thinking about a real, committed relationship. Will he accept one?
He most likely does, or else he wouldn't be pursuing you!
Yet, wanting something and having the courage to genuinely pursue it are two different things.
What then should a girl do?
I'll start off by telling you what you SHOULD NOT do.
Avoid Making These Two Common Errors
Don't assume it's about you first, please. It's not, almost sure. Before you even realized you were into him, he was into you. You still have his attention.
Don't pressurize him, second. Several of the advice pieces are inaccurate in this regard. They frequently advise you to play "hard to get" or a variation of it.
Instead, let him know that you are thinking about him.
Do it without suffocating or pressuring anyone. (For example, sending texts every hour on the hour might be excessive.)
Why do males close up and distance themselves from women at this point in a relationship? He's a little nervous, that's why. Concerned of sacrificing his freedom of choice.
Keep being the lady he fell in love with and don't alter.
Desire is what drives him during the chase phase. His motive changes as soon as he becomes aware that this might actually be the case.
He finds himself suddenly considering the numerous possibilities he will forgo and the lifestyle adjustments he will make.
(Many men have the unreasonable concern that if they commit to a woman, all of their actions would be gendered.)
You don't have to alter what you're doing when he behaves in this manner. Your best bet is to come across as relaxed and at ease when he acts distant.
Be the lady with whom he fell in love (carefree, confident, and available).
Don't panic since it will make him panic. Don't demand his attention; doing so will make him flee. And resist the want to freak out thinking he has discovered some terrible defect in you.
Because having that thinking would make you feel bad, and feeling bad is not attractive.
Be optimistic at all times.
For the first few dates, he chased you in the hopes that you would decide you liked him. He has a history of taking risks.
It's your time now. But still letting him know you're interested, give him enough room to feel at ease.
Any man who genuinely desires a committed relationship will change his mind as soon as he realizes there is nothing to be afraid of.
Furthermore, any man who isn't prepared for a committed relationship wasn't really the catch you were looking for!
