Whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son. — Romans 8:29

What wonderful illustration of the spiritual state of man! When compared to Christ's moral perfection, each of us has flaws (Rom. 3:23). No matter how moral we may seem to be, our crimes require more than a religious touch-up. We are in great need of Jesus Christ's purifying, atoning blood. God gives us His perfect righteousness when we accept Jesus as our Savior. From that point on, He uses His Spirit to transform us into more like Him.

Are we striving to live each day with the spotless beauty of Christlike character?

Those who serve as a reminder of Christ are the most lovely persons. Let all of Jesus' magnificent passion and purity be seen in me. O Holy Spirit, divine all of my nature so that the beauty of Jesus may be seen in me.

Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. — Galatians 6:2

Onesimus was a servant of Philemon. He might have been put to death for fleeing under the law. Onesimus, however, had rushed into Jesus' arms and into Paul's arms. Paul assured the escaped slave that the apostle would pay back any debts before sending him back to Philemon. Onesimus' burden was taken by Paul.

Jesus took on the suffering of the cross for us. We imitate Him and carry out His desire for our lives when we bear one another's burdens (Gal. 6:2; 1 John 3:16). Do you agree to don someone's brand-new flax shirt today?

Christ takes on our troubles so that we can take on others'. It demonstrates the love of Christ to others by taking on the heavy loads, suffering, and grief of others, and by bringing them His unfailing relief.

Do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”? — James 4:5

James 4:5–6 has been rewritten as, "Do you think Scripture says without reason that the Holy Spirit, whom God caused to live in us, jealously wants us exclusively to Himself in order to pour out His grace on us generously?"

The world's principles are embraced when we want, covet, and instigate conflict (vv. 1-4), and this makes God envious. He is constantly seeking to keep us close to Him. He corrects, chastises, consoles, leads, and exhorts us to become closer to Him. Because it is brimming with grace and truth, this pure possessiveness uplifts and liberates rather than stifles or demeans us. He wants us all to Himself because of this.

Praise God for His envious nature.

The Christian's heart does not have space for two people to share it. What should we do to earn God's blessing now that we are aware of His just enmity? (James 4:7-10).

Satisfy us early with Your mercy, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days! — Psalm 90:14

Caleb and Moses are two examples of virtuous persons who did not let their advanced years prevent them from doing good. One of the men who had scouted out Canaan arrived in the Promised Land at the age of 85 and drove the Anakites out (Josh. 14:6–15). Until he was 120 years old, Moses steadfastly led the people of Israel (Deut. 34:5-7). Their perseverance and faith in God until He called them home was the key to their success.

Many people have lived much longer than the seventy years described in Psalm 90:10. They are using their energy to uplift others and serve God, which is how they are still producing "fruit in old age" (Ps. 92:14). Others, who are much younger, have chosen to return home by coasting.

We must commit ourselves to the Lord's service for as long as we are able. Afterward, irrespective of our age, we can "rejoice and be glad."

Stay useful to stay young. Growing older but not retiring, Lord, the fight continues; I'll keep fighting without stopping until the last victory is achieved.

Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here.” — Matthew 17:4

Some Christians' attention is drawn away from Jesus by sin. Others become distracted by excessive study and frantic activities. Even though they are both important things, doctrines and church attendance shouldn't be our primary interests. Jesus must remain at the center of our spiritual focus.

Is the Lord Jesus Christ your main love and devotional focus?

Your life will be out of focus if Christ is not your main focus. I would never be able to live without Him, without His love and grace; I would never be able to find someone who could ever be able to stand in His place.

Each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. — James 1:14

Adam said he wasn't at fault after eating the forbidden fruit. The lady God created was at fault.

We occasionally react in that way. Even if God is to fault, we are quick to find someone to point the finger at when we do something wrong. But according to James, sin occurs when we give in to our own narcissistic cravings.

Unable to shake a sin from your mind? It's possible that you aren't getting over it because you're blaming someone else. Because He didn't intervene to stop you from committing it, you might even be blaming God. Nonsense! Until you are ready to admit "It's my fault," you will never be able to overcome your sin.

With a justification, you can never defeat sin. God cannot prosper those who attempt to hide sin and wrongdoing; nevertheless, the Savior will grant blessings to everyone who would honestly admit their faults out of love.

Whoever gives . . . only a cup of cold water . . . shall by no means lose his reward. — Matthew 10:42

After recounting the parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus advised us to treat everyone we come into contact with as our neighbors and do our best to assist them when they are in need.

Lord, assist us to constantly be on the lookout for chances to be good neighbors.

Kindness deeds are more valuable than feelings of affection. How many lives am I going to affect today?
How many of my neighbors will be walking by?
If I approach each person with a Christlike touch, I can help so many people and bless so many people.

He spoke, and it was done. — Psalm 33:9

Psalm 33 states that when He speaks, His words come to pass. For instance, verse 6 states that "the heavens were created by the word of the Lord, and all their host by the breath of His mouth." The world was created after God spoke. What a proof of God's awesomeness! It ought to serve as a reminder of the vast disparity between the Creator and His creations. We express our desires when we speak, but when God speaks, reality is made.

This wonderful reality motivates us to carry out Psalm 33:1-3's instructions to "Rejoice in the Lord," "Praise the Lord," and "Sing to Him." His words create the universe, and we must glorify Him with our words.

Today, let's move beyond merely saying, "I'm going to praise the Lord." Let's do it with both our words and our lives.

Our grateful adoration is a result of God's awesome power. God created the world with the strength of His words, and the stars were flung across the heavens. Today, in His honor, we offer our prayers and songs of praise.

He counts the number of the stars; He calls them all by name. — Psalm 147:4

Given the complete insignificance of our world, it is difficult to imagine that the cosmos' creator is concerned about the fate of the human race, which has been cruelly compared to a semi-invisible rash on the skin of a little planet in an inferior solar system.

The startling reality is that God does give a damn. David questioned, "When I consider Your heavens,... what is man that You are mindful of him?" centuries before telescopes were created. (Ps. 8:3-4). Not only does God care, but He also treats everyone with the same loving care as if we were individually the only ones in need of it. The starry sky and one person's pain are contrasted in Psalm 147:3–4: "He heals the brokenhearted and wraps up their wounds. He names each star by name and counts how many there are.

Mind-boggling! Every believer is the focus of the wisdom and the strength that support the entire cosmos. What a source of assurance and power when we feel frail and uncertain!

The one who controls the stars in outer space will undoubtedly support his saints on earth. I am the God of the stars. Lift up your eyes and look as far into eternity as a mortal can, keeping your focus on Me.

You are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ. — Galatians 4:7

Many Christians are unaware of everything they have in Christ. They ought to be living like kings and queens, not like spiritual peasants. Paul, the apostle, said that those who believe "are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus" (Gal. 3:26). He added, "God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, 'Abba, Father!' because you are sons. Since you are no longer a slave but a son through Christ, you are no longer a slave (Gal. 4:6-7).

Everything we require to lead successful, meaningful lives has been given to us by God. Let's not lead subsistence lives.

A royal child shouldn't have a life befitting a worldly serf. God has provided everything we need for life and godliness, but we still need to put our gifts to good use.

God uses the strength of song and the truth to compel His people to follow Him. Moses imparted a lengthy song with 43 verses to a new generation of Israelites in Deuteronomy 32. When they moved into the Promised Land and abandoned God, it would serve as a witness against them as well as a declaration of God's faithfulness. The hymn served two purposes: to demonstrate to the Israelites that God was deserving of their devotion and to beckon them to Him when their own resources had run out (vv. 36–39).

Never undervalue the impact of music. It can either make the job of the Spirit more difficult or make you love Christ more.

Try altering your tune if your life lacks harmony. God's song of love, which comes from above and wipes away our tears, calms all of our concerns.

We then who are strong ought to bear with the scruples of the weak. — Romans 15:1

In a way, Christians are similar to that. We are pushed forward by individuals who share our objectives when we have a common purpose. Together, we can accomplish much more than we can separately.

And geese honk at each other. They support rather than criticize. Those at the rear sound off to urge those in front to keep going and hurry up. If there is someone behind us motivating us to keep moving forward and stay on course, we will also advance much more quickly.

Is there a fellow pilot with you today that you could give some "helpful honks" to?

Together, we can accomplish much more than we can on our own. Encourage one another as we work to stay on course; if we keep our end in mind, we won't have time to look back.

Jesus Christ . . . has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel. — 2 Timothy 1:10

Death is the tremendous storm that we all must face. However, because our Lord has previously passed through it without incident, he has made a way for us to do the same. Christ destroyed eternal death for every believer via His cross and resurrection, and He established our relationship with Him in heaven for all time. Although physical death, the "last enemy," can touch us momentarily, its temporary hold over our earthly bodies will dissolve at the resurrection. Death's sting has been diminished!

All who recognize Christ as Savior can now confidently confront death's ultimate journey. We won't be terrified as we cross the "cape of good hope" and enter heaven's harbor, regardless of how choppy the water may be. Our secure voyage has been guaranteed by the Master Helmsman Himself.

Through the murky seas of death, Christ has mapped out a safe way. Imagine simply crossing a river, stepping out in safety on that bank, your sadness and suffering ending, and spending the rest of your days with Christ!
