Paul describes the compass as his "manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance" (vv. 10–14). This is the work of the Holy Spirit. Timothy didn't go lost since he closely followed Paul's Spirit-led example.

 The Bible unequivocally demonstrates that a Christian's inner being is a battleground where the Holy Spirit's indwelling opposes sinful impulses. Sometimes wicked instincts triumph, but the main distinguishing factor between a sincere Christian and a pretender is how they approach sin. 

The impostor Christian is very at ease in his immorality. However, the sinful person hates their sin, owns up to it, and wants to overcome it. According to Galatians 5:24, this is because "those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires." Until a Christian acknowledges and repudiates his sins, he cannot find peace. He consistently overcomes sin as he puts his trust in the Holy Spirit.

How about thee? Give your attitude a check-up. Do you feel at ease with your sin? If so, you should consider how you relate to Christ (2 Cor. 13:5).

To Timothy, a true son in the faith: Grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord. — 1 Timothy 1:2

 These three are the sisters of salvation: peace, grace, and mercy. The gospel is condensed into just three words. They encapsulate our whole redemption through Jesus Christ. 

Our salvation is based on grace, which is then realised in mercy and finally culminates in peace. 

Grace refers to the past; according to Ephesians 1:14, our salvation dates back "before the foundation of the world." Mercy talks about the present because it shows up for us every single day. And since it secures our future, peace is the culmination. 

Grace is being given something we are not worthy of. Not getting what we deserve is mercy. We are deserving of hell, yet thanks to His kindness, we will never enter it.

Even though we don't deserve to be in heaven, grace will allow us to stay there forever. Grace explains. Mercy forgives. Grace allows us to enter paradise. Mercy brings us out of hell. Christ's death was sufficient to grant us mercy, but our justification had to come from his resurrection. It says in Romans 4:25 that He "was delivered up because of our offences, and was raised because of our justification." 

And we now enjoy "peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" (Rom. 5:1) because of our faith.  

Nobody lives more peacefully, contentedly, or victoriously than those who walk by faith. [Our Lord] accepted His own death.

On that terrible cross of suffering,

And those who turn to Him with confidence

We will win eternal life!

Nehemiah was given permission to return and restore Jerusalem in response to prayer. The city was in ruins when he got there. "There is so much rubbish that we are not able to build the wall," the men of Judah said as they approached Nehemiah (Neh. 4:10). 

We are builders too. Sin has brought to the complete destruction of humanity. The gospel's message offers us the solution to this lost world. 

However, we frequently overlook how ineffectual our work is due to the junk in our own life. The garbage of unquestioning habits, spiritual apathy, laziness, worldliness, consumerism, doubt, and worry, as well as a lack of prayer and Bible study. Before we can successfully serve the Lord, all of stuff has to go.

We have to get down on our knees, confess our sins, and receive His pardon so that we can start from a spotless base. Then we shall be able to provide Him with something eternal.

God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. — John 3:16

 This is the epitome of divine love: Jesus loved the world that hated God and killed Jesus as well as His friends. 

"No one has greater love than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends," declared Jesus in John 15:13. To give your life in order to save your friends and loved ones is the height of human love. I'd die for my wife and kids, but it would take heavenly love for me to be willing to let my son die so that my worst enemy could live. 

The Bible says, "Christ died for us while we were still sinners, demonstrating God's own love towards us." 

And more than that, because we are now justified by His blood, we will be delivered from God's wrath via Him. Because if the death of God's Son made us right with Him even when we were enemies, then much more will His life save us now that we are at peace (Rom. 5:8–10). 

Oh, what marvels! While we were His enemies and thirsting for the blood of His spotless Son, God loved us so much that He sent His Son, whom He loved above all else, to die on the cross that we could be rescued. Thank God, we can trust it even though we cannot comprehend it. And when we do, we discover a peace that cannot be found elsewhere.

 God's love cannot be measured in this life or the next. O the love that drew the design of salvation!

 Windows have two main purposes: one is to allow light to enter and one is to allow people to gaze outside. 

The enormous edifice had just one window when God handed Noah the blueprints to build an ark to save his family. It was to be close to the top of the boat, possibly around the whole thing. Noah had a view of the seas and the sky above. 

There are a lot of spiritual lessons here. According to 1 Peter 3:20–22, the ark represents Christ, who carries His own through the floods of judgement to the heavenly realms of safety and divine fellowship (Eph. 2:6). 

We will be saved, just as Noah and his family were spared from the rivers of God's wrath.

Even though the believer is surrounded by darkness, the ransomed soul need only look to God in His Word to see the pure blue of God's love and the warmth and light of His smile. In the event that physical death approaches us and the Lord Jesus does not return soon, we have no need to be afraid of travelling through the dark valley of death or the slamming waves of judgement.

The Bible serves as a window through which we might hopeful see the dazzling wonders of eternity!
