Although we are in the world as Christians, we must be vigilant against its influence. We are employed in the corporate sphere. In the field of education, we learn. The realm of entertainment makes us laugh. In the world of sports, we support teams. We take part in religious conversations. The world is everywhere, just like the air we breathe.  

When you first enter a dark theatre on a sunny day, the darkness blinds you. The darkness seems to lighten and you can see again after a little while. You soon have normal vision. Unless the lights are cranked up or you step back outside into the sunlight, in which case the brightness compels you to cover your eyes.

Jesus-followers live in a gloomy environment where sin seems alluring and holiness is unappealing. However, we are a light-based people. We must be careful not to accept our society's gloom as usual by growing acclimated to it. Instead, we must maintain focus on what God has declared to be good and true. 

The light of Christ in your life is hidden by worldliness. Lord Jesus, I want to live for Thee. I will keep my eyes fixed on Thee so that I won't be drawn to the world or any of its systems.

 Military authorities at the highest levels of government keep a close eye on developments in their area and throughout the globe. They attempt to find an answer to the question, "Where is this going to lead us?" as they assess troop movements, missile locations, and potential replies. 

Jeremiah the prophet urged his people to think about the direction their actions were leading them around 600 BC. However, rather than a hostile army, the greatest danger to their wellbeing was their own moral and spiritual decline. Inhumane, godless, and sexually immoral people claimed to believe in God (5:7–28).

Even more alarming was the populace's preference for religious authorities who expressed the truth rather than what was politically right (5:30–31). The prophet questioned them, "What will you do in the end?" knowing that their way of life would inevitably bring down God's judgement. (v.31). 

The question is still relevant today as it was back then. We must thoroughly assess our relationship with God. Do we pause long enough in our hectic lives to consider where our lives are going? If we desire God's blessing on our life, we must evaluate our attitudes and deeds in light of God's Word.

Invest some time in planning your route; else, you might not enjoy where you wind yourself. How can I elevate the significance of God's Word in my life?

 Jesus assured His hearers that His truth may set them free in John 8 (v. 32). They argued that they were already free. By saying, "Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin" (v. 34), Jesus tightened the screws even more. Sin is hence compulsive. And because we are all sinners, we are all addicted to it. 

Every person has a "self" habit at the root of their sin issue that can only be overcome with Christ's assistance. Many drug addicts who have recovered have discovered that their "self" habit is a bigger issue than their substance habit.  

 Both the best and the worst sinners are saved by God's grace. All that we were—our sins, our guilt, and our death—was entirely of our own doing; instead, we owe everything we are to You, the one gracious God.

 The problem of discouragement affects many Christians. They may not be concerned about their health, their family, or their jobs, but they are demotivated by their spiritual service. They contrast themselves with others who possess musical prowess or the capacity to instruct in the Bible. They observe others who are able to give liberally and pray powerfully, but they believe they are incapable of doing these things. They thus believe they are not useful to God. But they must understand that every Christian is capable of performing at least one beneficial ministry, namely the ministry of encouragement.

 Paul, the apostle, understood the value of both receiving and giving encouragement (Phil. 2:19; Acts 20:2; 27:35–36). All of us can get active in that ministry. 

There is always room for encouragement, even if you have nothing else to offer. A few words may seem tiny, yet when they are words of encouragement, what miracles they can work!

According to the Bible, God's compassion and mercy are "new every morning" (Lam. 3:22–23). The Lord exposes the splendour of His character, the accomplishment of His promises, and the compassionate supply of His grace, just as each new day brings us a different struggle. 

What today may bring is unknown. But one thing is certain: God will astound us with His unwavering, consistently fresh compassions. His towering summits are made even more stunning by the depths of the valleys.

 God provides where He leads. When life's brush obstructs my vision, I've discovered

God's hand emerges with dismal strokes that seem to detract from the picture and gives sunless colour and gloomy skies a more majestic lustre.

 Even though you were well-prepared for the day it would occur, the first few nights are the most challenging. You are no longer guaranteed to know where each child is when you lock the doors and turn out the lights. You can no longer rest as soundly unless you have faith in God. 

David offered some consoling words in Psalm 139 that might be helpful to all of us who have to say farewell to our children as they leave home to live on their own. We are always in God's presence. Wherever we go, He is there—with us, with our kids.  

According to Psalm 33:13, "The Lord looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men." Even when one of the kids is away from home, that makes it easier for me to get some sleep. 

God has our best interests in mind, so we may relax. Saints safely reside beneath His careful gaze; that hand that upholds everything of nature will properly shield His offspring.

 These city workers' devastation is comparable to that caused by the Pharisees in Jesus' day. They elevated the art of concealment. They were successful-dressed. They were adept at leaving a favourable impression. They grew to despise Christ and His followers the more they understood about His character. 

When we simply think about our own needs and get preoccupied with how other people see us, we are much like the Pharisees. We have the potential to fill up on ourselves, make empty promises, and harbour selfish intentions that are as savage as shattered glass.

 God wants to mould us into being more like Christ, which is very different. According to Jesus (Mt. 23:12), "He who humbles himself will be exalted." Our own attempts to present a positive image of oneself are nothing more than a subpar "paint job." 

A wicked heart is like a crooked fence: No amount of paint will make it straight. Less of me and more of Jesus, becoming more and more like Thee every day, just to live completely in submission to my Lord who ransomed me.

This also comes from the Lord of hosts, who is wonderful in counsel and excellent in guidance. — Isaiah 28:29

 We need to be reminded that God is orchestrating our lives in a wise, caring, and meaningful way when we experience severe affliction or suffering. Isaiah explained this reality to the Israelites using the analogy of a farmer. 

When God ploughs through our life, He is also reaping a spiritual harvest that will benefit us for all of eternity. 

A farmer is a smart worker as well. Isaiah spoke of the methodical selection of plots for various seeds (28:25). God also takes great care to choose for everyone of us precisely what we require for spiritual development. Our struggles are not predetermined by fate.

Finally, a good farmer thins his crops with as little force as possible (vv. 27–28). The same idea guides the actions of our kind God. He never makes us suffer needlessly. 

The Lord, according to Isaiah, is "wonderful in counsel and excellent in guidance" (v. 29). Have you reached the same decision? 

God utilises our hardships to strengthen us rather than break us. What difficulties have I been having?
