Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps. — 1 Peter 2:21

Being a slave has never been simple. During the Roman Empire, slaves were referred to as "human tools." Slaves who were ill or elderly may be discarded like a dull saw.

The hostility of their heathen owners occasionally resulted in further humiliations for Christian slaves. The slaves were given some difficult instructions by the apostle Peter. He instructed them to face the injustice of their circumstances with the same dignity that Christ exhibited. Instead of following their feelings, they were to follow Christ's example of suffering at His crucifixion (1 Pet. 2:20-24).

That story encapsulates what it means to emulate Jesus. By imitating their suffering Saviour, those slaves from the first century might stand as tall as Christ, even as they bowed beneath the weight of their cruel treatment.

Is an injustice making you feel depressed? Consider your Master! When we stand with Him, we can be tall.

For a follower of Christ, this involves bending down to assist others. According to conventional knowledge, honour is like gold. The strong will prevail, and the others must submit. However, our example broke through this mould by bending down to wash the feet of the men He commanded.

The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion. — Proverbs 28:1

One of the consequences of breaching the law is a loss of courage, to name but one. The fear of being discovered quickly takes the place of the audacity needed to disobey the law. Even when no one is pursuing us, we still find ourselves fleeing (Prov. 28:1). Eventually, our dread validates and exposes our guilt.

God made it clear to His people in Leviticus 26 what would happen if they decided to disobey His commandment. He said that they would run "when no one pursues" (v. 37) and that they would flee at "the sound of a shaken leaf" (Lev. 26:36). However, He also left room for sincere repentance (vv. 40–42).

Our lack of a close relationship with God is demonstrated by fear. The first stage of healing is confession. God promises forgiveness if we confess our faults to Him (1 John 1:9).

You'll learn that your fear will be running away from you rather than you by being honest with God.

Few things inspire greater bravery than having a righteous attitude towards God. Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, oh my soul! My sin—oh the joy of this magnificent thought—my sin, not in part, but in its entirety, is nailed to the cross, and I carry it no more!

He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. — John 7:38

This natural rule also applies to God's children, which helps to explain why so many Christians are spiritually lifeless and unproductive. Even after attending Bible conferences, watching religious television, studying the Bible, and constantly hearing the Word spoken from the pulpit, some people may still appear lifeless and unproductive in their Christian lives.  They have many "inlets," but no "outlets." In order to be active and helpful Christians, we have to "give out" in order to help others, in addition to "taking in" everything that we can!

May the Lord provide us with cool springs so that we can quench our thirst. We have access to the "water of life" since the Holy Spirit resides inside us, and we can use this to bless those who are in need. Let us give to others from our loving hearts what we have first received from God.

Allow the love of Christ to pass through you in order to be a conduit for blessings. Give as you have been given in your time of need.

adoration as the Master has shown you;

Be a true helper to the defenceless,

Be true to your mission.

Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory. — 1 Peter 1:8

A mother in extreme poverty will go without food in order to provide for her kids. A committed learner will sleep less in order to gain knowledge. And in order to protect his nation, a patriotic soldier will forfeit his house and security. But who would rob themselves of the most significant thing in life without a good reason? But by neglecting his spiritual well-being, a non-Christian is exactly doing that. He is depriving himself of the happiness that comes from Jesus alone.

Give Christ your entire existence. Nothing worthwhile will be taken from you, and you will be filled with His joy.

We experience unending joy when God grants us a fresh start. Turn to the Saviour right away if you are looking for joy in your life.

Since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart. — 2 Corinthians 4:1

These events have taught us a very clear lesson: we need to keep trying despite setbacks.

The apostle Paul is the best person I can think of who persisted in the face of apparent defeat. Most of us would give up after reading his litany of mistakes. To start with, the members of the church Jesus established in Corinth made many mistakes. For another, he spent multiple terms in prison. Imagine a picture of loss if you add in the shipwrecks, beatings, and betrayals (2 Cor. 11:23–27). However, Paul's ministry is recognised for its resounding accomplishments.

Let's practise putting our mistakes behind us. We don't have to give up because of God's kindness (2 Cor. 4:1).

It's common for success to emerge from failure's ashes. Success is failure reversed—the silvery tinge of doubt veils,

Stick with the battle when you are most hurt because that is when you must persevere and not give up.

God, who . . . in various ways spoke in time past . . . by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son. — Hebrews 1:1-2

Paul dosed several godless philosophers on Mars' Hill with the truth. He told the learned Greeks that they should listen to the one real God rather than creating multiple gods. God demands everyone to believe what He has said and turn from their sins because He has shown Himself in Jesus Christ (Acts 17:30-31).

We can never approach God by attempting to enter the head of a Christ that we have created! Instead, God speaks to us through the Bible (2 Timothy 3:16), the Holy Spirit's testimony (Romans 8:16), and His Son, Jesus Christ (Hebrews 1:1–2).

To know the God of the Bible, one must know the Bible. Now, Lord, give Your Spirit to me so that He can open my eyes and enable me to see. Show me the truth that is hidden in Thy Word, and I see Thee in Thy Book exposed.

[Jesus] said to them, "Come aside by yourselves to a deserted place and rest a while." — Mark 6:31

We need balance in our lives if we are to properly serve Christ. We cannot work for the Lord at full speed without taking breaks or finding other activities to engage in. We need to balance the gravity of our purpose with healthy leisure.

It is crucial that we work diligently for the Lord. However, there are moments when we become so consumed with our work and hobbies that we run out of energy and start to lose perspective. As our Lord counselled the disciples, we must take time to relax.

Fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord. — Ephesians 6:4

"Do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord," the apostle Paul advised parents (Eph. 6:4).

It's simple to recognise wrong in a youngster, but harder to see past a seemingly harmless transgression to recognise an act of kindness and inventiveness.

Encouragement has a greater effect than correction. Lord, grant us discernment so that we can create the right environment so that our kids would follow Your ways based on what they see and hear.

We do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. — 2 Corinthians 4:18

That is how things work in our Christian lives. This world is God's workshop, where He expertly shapes our lives to become more like Christ via challenges of faith. Sometimes we are ashamed of the way we feel and look. Paul referred to our difficulties as "light affliction, which is but for a moment" (2 Cor. 4:17) and urged us not to give up. Our suffering is leading us to an everlasting splendour that will surpass all of our suffering.

While God is still at work in us, we have hope because of this "hope of glory." We shall be like Him and reflect His beauty when we pass from this life and see Christ in person.

He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. — John 10:3

Names express something about who we are and how we relate to other people. The Messiah said, "The Lord has called Me from the womb;... He has made mention of My name" (Isa. 49:1) before He was born. That illustrated the unique bond between God the Father and the Messiah.

The fact that this friendship is extended to us via Jesus makes it much more thrilling. We who believe in Christ's finished work on the cross to atone for our sins have been accepted into God's family (Rom. 8:15; Eph. 1:5). Christ addresses us by name when we put our faith in Him to be our Saviour and Lord (Jn. 10:3).

What an honour! And how consoling that is for all of us who put our confidence in Him! God's love for us is beyond our comprehension. He has promised to never abandon us (Jn. 10:27–30).

Are you hearing His call?

Christ knows your identity, your face, and your needs; you are more than simply a number that computers can track. I was deeply mired in sin and shame when I heard the Saviour call my name; ever since then, my life has changed drastically.

A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, . . . in humility correcting those who are in opposition. — 2 Timothy 2:24-25

But we are not to be helpless, yielding to the winds of misinformation. We don't have to act superior to others in order to be adamant in our beliefs. We don't have to pound someone over the head with the truth in order to express it.

I've witnessed some people come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour by gently guiding those who have fallen prey to religious deception. We give God the opportunity to lead the misguided person to repent and acknowledge the truth when we gently attempt to correct them.

Sharing the Good News inanely is not appropriate. How much wisdom is found in kindness!

What power there is in sincere meekness!

As Christlike love and truth come together,

God's amazing grace is revealed.

When I am weak, then I am strong. — 2 Corinthians 12:10

Weakness is something that we generally dislike. In contrast, strength is considered admirable. However, the apostle Paul said something perplexing in 2 Corinthians 12:10: "When I am weak, then I am strong."

He said something, but how? He discovered that he had to totally rely on God's boundless grace when his own strength failed and his reserves of vitality and intelligence ran out. When he did that, he experienced something akin to what happens to a traveller in the desert who finds an oasis with an abundance of crystal-pure water and discards his bone-dry canteen.

Have we figured out how to tap into God's boundless power instead of relying on our very inadequate self-sufficiency?

We must acknowledge our weakness if we are to experience God's might. God shows us His tremendous sufficiency via our weakness; thus, if we allow Him to work through us, we will be able to witness His strength.

I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your . . . mother. — 2 Timothy 1:5

Mothers' prayers and faith can have a significant influence on their children's life. Hannah begs God, and God responds by giving birth to her son Samuel, as recounted in First Samuel 1. Paul also mentioned Timothy's mother's faith in a letter to Timothy, which I'm sure was frequently expressed in fervent prayer on his behalf. It makes sense why God employed him in the early church.

Mothers who believe there is nothing more they can do for their children can get irritated sometimes. However, they can always pray, which is among the most prized gifts of all.

A mother's prayers have the power to construct a stronghold around her kids. When I was a little child, I heard my name mentioned in my mother's prayer. As a result of her compassion, I have now found peace with God.
