 Although there are several references in the Bible to spirits that serve God and worship Him, there is a good reason why they are shrouded in mystery. Even if they serve us on God's behalf, their control over our ultimate well-being is not absolute. They serve as models for us of the adoration and obedience that God deserves, but they are not meant to draw our attention away from the One who is both their Lord and ours. 

Hebrews 1 has a clear message. The angels have no chance against Jesus (v. 4). They taught us that only Christ is deserving of our faith and worship.

 Not as objects of worship, but as examples of worship, are angels. The angels serve as examples of what it is to serve and obey God, and their unceasing adoration of the Lord encourages us to pray.

 God demanded animal sacrifices under the Old Testament law, which pointed to Christ's death on the cross for our sins. Although they came to a stop with His death, the Lord still longs for His followers to offer him spiritual sacrifices. 

Any endeavour to gain God's favour or draw attention to oneself has no merit in God's eyes. However, He takes great pleasure in actions that flow from love-based faith (Galatians 5:6). They are spiritual offerings that result from fully dedicating ourselves to Him (Rom. 12:1-2). He is pleased when we give thanks consistently in the name of Jesus, act righteously, and help others (Heb. 13:15–16). 

The cost of some spiritual sacrifices will be high. However, the gain—His praise—is always greater than the loss.

 How does my existence further the gospel? Do you ever wonder about that? Does it seem like you toil away at a mundane job every day, doing the same things over and over again? 

In that case, you can also have a persistent sense of spiritual annoyance. It can appear that what you accomplish has little to do with the overall plan and goal of God's kingdom. 

But in order for God's intentions to be accomplished, we must not overlook the routine chores in favour of the great ones. Cooking meals, picking up trash, staffing production lines, and caring for youngsters are all necessary.

 Does it seem like you're wasting your time working? Imagine how different life would be if no one bothered to do what you do for a living. Think of your house as a ministry space, and your office as a sanctuary. Then, carry out your obligation as though it were for Jesus. He is the one you are actually serving, after all (Col. 3:23). 

No service is too small for Christ. Are you occupied in the space God gave you to watch over?

The Lord surrounds His people from this time forth and forever. — Psalm 125:2

 I recently had a conversation with a man who voiced his concern about the future. He's convinced that the stock market will collapse. He believes that demonic forces will overtake our nation and that materialism will infiltrate the church. Even though he claims to believe in Jesus Christ, he nevertheless worries that he might accidentally or unintentionally enter damnation. 

We are reminded not to be afraid about the future in Psalm 125. The psalmist gives thanks to God because He has vowed to keep His people safe and secure. The psalmist proclaimed that the Lord surrounds His people eternally, just as the mountains surrounding Jerusalem will not be moved (vv. 1–2). 

God says He will give us His grace. 

Because He says so, we are secure for all of eternity. No one of His own will be taken from His Father's hand, according to what Jesus said in John 10:28. Paul also stated in Romans 8:38–39 that nothing can separate us from God's love.

This does not give us licence to commit sin. Paul made a strong point regarding the contradiction of leading an immoral lifestyle after having "died to sin" (Rom. 6:1-4).

We have every reason to believe that our future is as safe as God's unchanging nature because we know the Lord and walk in His ways.

 

When you know God is going with you, you don't need to be afraid of where you're headed. Be calm, my soul; your God is committing to guiding the future as He has done the past; keep your hope and confidence unshaken; eventually, everything that is currently mysterious will become clear.

 The abundance of cool, enticing water was the irony of it all. We were surrounded by Lake Huron, but we dared not drink from it out of concern about pollution. 

We frequently share the same spiritual situation. We are striving as hard as we can to achieve our objectives despite being surrounded by refreshments that we are unwilling to consume. We are as parched as a biker. The difference is that our spiritual water is always safe to drink; we just don't always take the time to take a big swallow. 

In Psalm 63:1, David claimed that his soul was parched for God. However, he filled his thirst by seeking the Lord's might and majesty (vv. 2, 3), praising His lovingkindness (vv. 5, 6), and contemplating His goodness (v. 6).

Let's accept the quenching God offers. When He is so close by, there is no reason to become parched. 

Water is to the body what the Bible is to the soul. He feeds my thirst for knowledge, and I feast on the Word, the Living Bread.

I am aware that there is no burning thirst because His grace, a well of limitless depth, meets my needs.

 Have you ever sped through the grocery store, hoping you won't run into a familiar face since you were in too much of a hurry to stop? I have. However, we should be prepared to share the gospel whenever God provides us the chance. 

 Jesus called out to some untrained fishermen as He went by the Sea of Galilee and said, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men" (Mt. 4:19). They abandoned their nets and went after Him. These men were aware of the thrill of the catch. And they saw that Jesus could involve them in something much more significant than just catching fish. Our problem is that, if we ever knew it at all, we have lost the thrill of the catch. 

We must go out among them and genuinely befriend them if we want to enjoy the thrill of "catching" individuals for Christ. Even if bearing testimony is crucial, don't do it merely because of friendship; rather, bear witness because you are a friend. According to a proverb, "People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care!" 

Are you going to go shopping today? Be on the lookout for opportunities to observe. The thrill of a catch could be waiting in the next aisle. 

If you don't look for opportunities to witness, you won't find them. Today, Lord, show me how to reach a soul. My friends are lost in sin and are unable to find their way.

 The famous theologian Augustine (354–430) penned The City of God in the midst of this calamity. Even though his thoughts are more than 15 centuries old, they are still relevant today. 

Death is a servant who leads us into the presence of a loving Lord for those who put their faith in Jesus Christ, not a sheriff hauling us off to court. The apostle Paul recognised this because he viewed life and death from the viewpoint of Christ. He could confidently exclaim, "Death is swallowed up in victory" (1 Cor. 15:54) because he knew where death would lead him. 

The same boldness should be displayed by every Christian. 

We who put our faith in Jesus Christ can view death as a comma that precedes a blissful eternity with our Lord rather than a period because of His death and resurrection.

 Hawks or falcons that had been trained for the sport of falconry were utilised to hunt wild game. However, when given the chance to fly, the "educated predator" frequently flew too high for people to see it. So a shrike, a small caged bird, was frequently carried by hunters. Because the shrike instinctively frightened the predator and angled its head to keep it in view, the guy could always determine where his hawk was by observing the little bird's behaviour. 

When trying to identify his spiritual foe, the Christian urgently needs the shrike's keen awareness. According to 1 Peter 5:8, Satan, who is our enemy, "walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." 

Peter, the apostle, said that it was our duty to "be sober, be vigilant." We must constantly stay vigilant.

God should have enormous sirens to alert us when the adversary is about to attack. But that's not how the Lord works. Instead, we need to frequently read the Bible, reflect on its teachings, live a prayerful life, and be filled with the Holy Spirit. Only then can we be alert to the evil one's impending assault and equipped with grace to repel it.

 As soon as I learned that a jet had crashed near Pittsburgh, killing everyone on board, a wave of ideas and feelings washed over me. I was cold. Everyone was abruptly ushered into eternity. As the jet descended rapidly, I considered the panic that overcame the crew and passengers. How many people were prepared to meet the Lord? I pondered. The people whose loved ones or friends were on that aeroplane broke my heart. 

Why did they pass away? not because they were superior to or inferior to the rest of us in any way. None of us has the right to believe that we are too wonderful to die in this way because we all sin. There is no place for arrogant smugness. 

There isn't room for venomous criticism either. In our fallen world, death will come to everyone of us in its own time and in its own way.

Disasters serve as a wake-up call to sin. They ought to serve as a reminder that we must repent of our sins, seek forgiveness from Jesus, and reaffirm our commitment to following Him.

Lord, grant us wisdom to know how to react when faced with misfortune. 

Repentance is never too late, but it might be too late soon. Come to Christ, for time is short; do not harden your heart now; for it is Christ whom you will see on that joyful or terrible day.

 This served as a reminder that while the world frequently looks down on Christians, we Christians may not be that "tall" in the sight of some. But we are very valuable in God's eyes! 

Not many people who are strong, noble, or wise in the flesh are called, according to the apostle Paul. However, according to 1 Corinthians 1:26-27, "God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise." 

Although we may not have positions of authority and status in society, we have been given a position in Christ that is far superior to that of the "big shots" in this world. We are very valuable because of our connection to Christ. 

Paul stated that "we are children of God and joint heirs with Christ" in Romans 8 (vv. 16–17). 

No matter how poorly the world treats us or how insignificant we may appear in comparison to others, we are priceless in God's eyes. We are worth so much more because of Christ. 

Even if the world might not value you, God does. The loving Saviour has chosen a small number of wise people, and only a small number of noble people will enter His rest. Foolish, despised people are the beneficiaries of His charity.

 Psalm 124 is a reflection on the Lord's goodness in delivering and guarding His people. Israel was about to be swallowed alive by furious pagan leaders when the Lord intervened to save His elect. "If it had not been the Lord who was on our side..." the appreciative psalmist exclaimed twice (vv. 1-2).

We who follow Jesus can make the same claim when we reflect on the past.  

I have occasionally had to resist powerful temptations. 

I wouldn't have been able to refuse if it weren't for the Lord.

And a few years ago, I struggled with a protracted time of hopelessness, remorse, unpleasant memories, and emptiness. I would not have survived that treacherous valley if it weren't for God's assistance.

If the Lord had not intervened,. I've repeated it numerous times. I have no doubt that you have. Remembering the Lord's mercy in the past will encourage us to exclaim with the psalmist, "Our help is in the name of the Lord" (v.8) when we face fresh trials, difficulties, doubts, or temptations.

 

Whatever we encounter, God provides ample grace. Even when difficulties arise and perils terrify, even when allies falter and enemies band together,

 James 1:2-4 suggests that individuals who appear to experience more "banging up" than others may actually benefit from it. Even though none of us would intentionally seek out or seek out difficulties, Scripture says that our struggles make us stronger. 

Examine Paul's illustration in 2 Corinthians 11. He enumerated all the awful things that had happened to him while he was serving God. Then, in chapter 12, he made reference to his "thorn in the flesh" condition. Paul made no complaints. He was making the point that when we are at our weakest, God's strength is most evident. 

When we become hurt, let's, like Paul, look for the ways God has improved us.

 God allows hardships in our lives to strengthen us rather than weaken us. God's work in us transforms us and conforms us to the image of His Son; He accomplishes this via trials and tests up until the end of our existence.

 I find it distressing that so many sermons and books nowadays are solely devoted to methods for assisting people in successfully navigating the difficulties, issues, and struggles of life. Preaching on common topics and "how-to" publications have their place, of course. People cannot help themselves in laying a strong spiritual basis for their life, however, if the major biblical truths about God, His power, His sovereignty, His grace, and His salvation through Christ are not taught to them. 

We have a solid foundation for living a holy life when we acknowledge the truth of these profound spiritual truths. 

Knowing and comprehending the Lord, whom Isaiah referred to as "the High and Lofty One" (57:15), gives us a sense of stability in life that is necessary for overcoming whatever challenge we may face.

What, however, is frequently advised first when a marriage is disintegrating? Consult a marriage therapist. Join a group treatment session. Read a well-known book about marriage success.  Christians don't all practise faith to the same extent. Some people appear to believe that their issue is too huge for God to handle. Others are certain that God is all-powerful, but they lack faith that He would act in their best interests. Others declare, "I know what God is capable of, and I'll trust Him to keep His word." These different perspectives range from a flimsy and unsure faith to a robust assurance that takes God at His word and thinks He is good. 

There were people who came to Jesus with various levels of faith, as we can see if we examine His ministry. He removed a spirit of muteness from a son whose father struggled with faith and doubt (Mk. 9:17–24). 

Although the leper knew He could heal him, he was unsure whether He would (Mk. 1:40–45). A centurion's servant was healed by Jesus, and the centurion begged only for Jesus to pronounce the word from a distance since he was so confident in the outcome (Lk. 7:1–10).

These instances do not imply that God always responds to our level of trust. Instead, He reacts to whatever level of faith in His wisdom. He wants us to entirely trust him so that we can experience the fullness of His fellowship. Jesus has the power to strengthen even the most feeble faith because of who He is.

 

As we come to understand how great our God is, our faith in him grows stronger. O for the calm of complete trust in You, My Loving God—unwavering faith that never questions the good You decide to do.

However, we don't need to give up. Even scratchy pens like you and me can be used by God, the great Author, to spread His message to others in our immediate vicinity. No of how we feel about our writing, let's continue to write in prayer.

 How could such a vast and breathtaking natural treasure escape our notice? Because the entire summit was covered in a thick fog. 

When we endeavour to understand the Bible, there are instances when we could feel "in a fog." We struggle and strain, but we are unable to recognise the lovely truths that are contained in the passage. It might even appear that God is hiding things from us. 

Remember that we always require the enlightening assistance of the Holy Spirit. It is His enemy, not God, who seeks to prevent us from understanding the magnificent truths of Scripture. The devil is aware that we cannot apply what we do not understand.

The psalmist prayed, "Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law" (Ps. 119:18), and we must do the same. The Holy Spirit will remove the mist so that we can clearly perceive the wonderful truths contained in God's Word as we seek His guidance each day. 

We won't be able to understand God's Word without the illumination of the Holy Spirit. Open my eyes so I can see the glimpses of truth you have for me, and give me the magnificent key that will unlock the lock and release me.

 In life, there are many times when we wish we could see what is coming next. Then we could manage it, prevent it, or get ready for it. 

Though humans can't see around corners, God can, a wise person once said. What a vast improvement and assurance that is! 

We started discussing other things we wanted to see but couldn't, like tomorrow. We lamented the fact that we couldn't check on tomorrow to see if everything was as we had hoped. Opening a partially cooked egg or interfering with tomorrow before it's time would ruin both today and tomorrow.

Many people had persuaded him to cheat in the race, give up, or compromise his religion during his 30 years of preaching. Paul, however, had made the decision not to pay attention to the opinions of the throng. He simply needed to win over one Judge. He was prepared to confront the cosmic umpire.

 In the former Soviet Union, a Christian named Walter Cizsek was imprisoned and subjected to torture because of his belief in Jesus. He was given the agonising choice between collaboration and execution. collaborate with murderers and liars? Never! But a painful death? How was he able to stand that? 

Walter was on the verge of giving up on God until he started to pray fervently. He eventually attained the capacity to entirely submit to the Father's will. God's will, according to him, was not "out there," but rather "in the circumstances I found myself in." What He desired was for me to relinquish control of these circumstances and put myself fully at His mercy. 

Walter was able to do that because to grace.

Have you ever experienced God's abandonment? Have you ever experienced the same desperation as the psalmist who cried out, "Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has He repressed His tender mercies out of anger? (Ps. 77:9). When the psalmist reflected on the magnificent deeds of the Lord and understood that He is fully in control, his grief was relieved (vv. 10–20).

Our feelings of being abandoned by God will vanish as we "let go of the reins" and put ourselves totally at His disposal.

 

No one will ever feel abandoned by God if they are. We won't need to worry or doubt when we are left in God's hands because we will understand that He is in charge and that He is always close by.

 Like the majority of Christ-followers, I aspire to live a life that is pure, thankful, compassionate, forgiving, reverent, and submissive to God. However, I am also aware of my own sinfulness and how reliant on God's mercy and grace I am. 

Job was described by the Lord as "an upright and blameless man, one who fears God and shuns evil" (Job 1:8). Nevertheless, Job admitted after all of his suffering, "I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes" (42:6). Without the mercy of God, he was aware of who he was. 

Many persons can be categorised as "good" from a human standpoint. However, God is aware of the spiritual stupidity, disobedience, blindness, selfishness, and hatred that exist within each and every one of us. 

We also comprehend why a "good man" like Job claimed he abhorred himself when He opens our eyes to see ourselves as He does. 

Help us, Lord, to do good things without ever losing sight of the fact that we are inherently wicked and unworthy of Your favour. We are grateful for the mercy You extend to us through Christ.

When peace arises in the middle of strife, it is most welcome. When faced with sour temptation and harsh tribulation, patience and self-control are at their sweetest. 

One reason God enables us to go through difficulties is so that, as a result of our godly reaction, the world might see the actual worth of the fruit of the Spirit. 

When we face a test in the future, may our deepest goal be to let the Holy Spirit work in us to produce fragrant fruit for God's glory.

 The book of Habakkuk is one of the shortest in the Old Testament. The prophet's perspective on life undergoes an extraordinary metamorphosis in its three brief chapters. He expresses the depths of despair in his opening lines, but by the end of the book, he has reached new heights of delight. 

What led to this astonishing transformation? Why did Habakkuk open with an objection and close with a hymn of praise? Three verses in chapter two have the solution. The concerned prophet heard from the Almighty God not only that the wicked will face judgement, but also that "the just shall live by his faith" (v. 4). 

Along with this, he stated that one day the earth will "be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea" (v. 14). He then gave him the assurance that "the Lord is in His holy temple" (v. 20). Habakkuk was in need of these magnificent insights to help him overcome his severe depression. He overcame his discouraging circumstances by keeping his focus on God and discovered a source of enduring delight in the Lord. 

Like the prophet, we too must live by faith and anticipate the wonderful day when Jesus will come again to establish His kingdom of righteousness and peace on earth. The key to genuine joy is to keep our faith in Him!

Maintain a positive mindset by looking up. rejoice once more in the Lord Jesus
