“I press toward the goal. . . . Brethren, join in following my example. — Philippians 3:14,17

That kind of wisdom is necessary for us to get past the anxiety brought on by our past mistakes and the worry that we won't make the same mistakes again, which can prevent us from living in the now.

Paul had the capacity to "forget" the past and look ahead to the future (Phil. 3:13–14). Paul was free of whatever shame or pride he might have felt from his past since God had forgiven him, which does not imply that his memories had been obliterated. Trials could only make him more like Christ as he lived in daily friendship with him. He therefore had one burning desire: to learn more about Christ.

Jesus will give us the ability to bravely confront the future and draw insight from the past while living completely in the present.

Never allow a dark past to dim a promising future. Lord, I stand at the threshold of this fresh, spotless year. Please help me to live it completely for You. Use me in this situation.

If God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. — 1 John 4:11

Millions of pounds of thrust produced by a solid fuel combination is used to launch space shuttles above the earth's atmosphere.

Indianapolis race cars run on a highly volatile gasoline mixture and reach speeds of more than 200 mph on average.

What motivates us to follow Jesus Christ? Why is it possible for us to love as He loved? Only the residing Holy Spirit can inspire us to act with compassion, forgiveness, and selflessness.

"If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us," the apostle John said. Because He gave us His Spirit, we may be sure that we are both in Him and that He is in us (1 John 4:12-13).

We are all capable of serving others out of a love for Christ that is fueled by the Holy Spirit.

Anything else than love does not support us well. Please move my sluggish heart for me.
Give me a clear, persuasive word of love that will convince the wandering feet to stay and point them in the direction of home.

Untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction . . . the Scriptures. — 2 Peter 3:16

Similar to this, some people have a bad habit of manipulating the Scriptures to enhance their flawed lives or to support their own beliefs. The apostle Peter forewarned his readers about the kinds of people who misinterpret the message of God's Word and do not approach it with sincere intentions and respect for its authority. They will be subject to God's wrath (2 Peter 3:16–17).

Without a sincere and humble reading of the Bible, we risk receiving the wrong message and being distracted from our commitment to Christ. God's Word serves as a light for us to follow. If we follow it every day, we will discover that it is a constant source of courage and reality.

It is perilous and a horrible sin to change the interpretation of God's Word to match our preconceived notions. Be careful in how you read and understand the Bible.

Never should we connect the Bible with ourselves; rather, we must do so. Send Your Spirit to me right away, Lord, so that He might open my eyes and let me see. Tell me the truth that is hidden in Your Word, and Lord, when I open Your Book, I see You there.

He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. — 1 John 5:12

However diligently they are safeguarded, the trees will eventually pass away. They will not live indefinitely. However, Christians can be sure they'll live forever. Undoubtedly, our bodies will expire. Yet our souls will never perish because of God's grace and strength. As Paul predicted in 1 Corinthians 15:53, our bodies shall be raised and transformed from mortal to immortal.

We am astounded by the bristlecone pines' enduring power. How much more amazing is life in Christ for all time. Those of us who trust in Him shall live forever!

Do you desire eternal life? Now let Jesus live in you. "Oh God, how can it be," we scream.
How much time is vast eternity?
From one coast to the next, the reply echoes, "No end, eternal, evermore."

Mary kept all these things and pondered them . . . . Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God. — Luke 2:19-20

For Mary and Joseph, the night of Jesus' birth was a joyful time. The miracle child, whose birth had been announced by an angel, was there in front of their eyes. A "multitude of the heavenly host" praising God and announcing the birth of Jesus was both seen and heard by the shepherds (Lk. 2:13). How exciting!

But a few days later, Mary and Joseph would have to deal with the routine duties of raising a new child and all the obligations that came with it. The shepherds would be caring to their sheep once more on the hillside. The conditions were favorable for the emotional drop that frequently follows an emotional high.

They didn't seem to suffer from the "after-Christmas blues," though. Mary wasn't able to forget what had happened easily, and neither could the shepherds who had heard and seen it (Lk. 2:19–20). Their lives were now full with fresh hope and anticipation since the angelic message had come true.

We now know the whole truth after two thousand years. Jesus came to earth to be crucified for our sins, and after rising from the dead, he defeated death on our behalf. Compared to Mary and the shepherds, we have more things to consider and more reasons to praise God. We need not feel depressed after Christmas.

Maybe you've been experiencing the tension and anxiety that come along with the Christmas season. If so, pause for a moment to once again reflect on the wonder of Christmas: God became man and became our Savior by entering the world as a baby. Pay close attention to that message today and every day. You'll be able to calm down and maintain the proper perspective on Christmas.

It's possible to maintain Christmas while rejecting Christ. Let's preserve our Christ in Christmas and revere Him as King. We need someone to worship and a hymn to sing.

He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. — Ephesians 2:17

God is a mediator who always takes the initiative to create peace. When Jesus reached adulthood, He preached nonviolence to a world at war. Jesus had come as a baby. Then, in the greatest act of world peacemaking ever, Christ reconciled God and men by dying for their sins (Col. 1:20).

The alternative to attempting to make peace is to continue being hostile. God didn't accept that, and neither should we. Even at the potential cost of being "shot down," let's begin the process of mending a damaged friendship.

The kind of harmony that transcends all misunderstanding is what this world needs. We ask you, Prince of Peace, to keep us free from conflict and enmity. Also, please support us in using kind words to diffuse tension.

The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. — John 1:14

Yes, the commercialization of Christmas is real. However, each gift we buy and wrap has the potential to serve as a silent proclamation of the greatest gift of all—God's "only begotten Son" (Jn. 3:16).

We are aware that Santa Claus is a fable and reindeer cannot fly. It's entirely made up. But we need to draw attention to the reality of the Baby who was born in Bethlehem rather than complaining about these unimportant things, which merely focuses on them.

What about the call to reintroduce Christ to the holiday season? He didn't leave, really. Pay attention to the lyrics of the carols that you hear playing nonstop in malls, stores, and on the streets. In a single holiday, they spread more truth than many pulpits do in three months. The magnificent fact that "the Lord is come" and that He is to be worshiped is implanted in the minds of both young and old by them.

Christmas is not a time to be a scrooge; rather, it is a time to invite others to discover the Savior. We have the opportunity to ask our friends and family, "Do you know the true meaning of the season? I do because I trust in Jesus.

The Lord will hear when I call to Him. — Psalm 4:3

Is our heavenly Father so preoccupied managing the universe that He is uninterested in our pleas for assistance? Not the God of the Bible, who declares Himself to be the only real God—the One who upholds the innumerable star clusters in all their vastness while still observing the sparrow's fall—who does not ignore the sparrow's fall. He invites us to discuss everything, even the little things, with Him.

Although angels indeed serve God and assist believers (Heb. 1:13–14), we do not require their help to communicate with our heavenly Father. He can be reached immediately by us (4:14–16). We can affirm with the psalmist that "The Lord will hear when I call to Him" (Ps. 4:3).

Never is God too busy to hear from His children. We give thanks to You, Lord, for hearing our prayers. We know You are always there to answer our prayers, and we appreciate Your concern.

Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. — 2 Chronicles 20:15

The people of Judah in today's Bible reading were also having problems. They recognized they lacked the strength and intelligence to defeat their enemies. God was the last thing they had. However, this was not cause for despair in the eyes of King Jehoshaphat and the populace. They said to God, "Our eyes are upon You," (2 Chr. 20:12). The promise that He would fulfill was that "the battle is not yours, but God's" (v. 15), and this did not let them down.

Are you in a situation where you can no longer rely on yourself at all? You have God's calming assurance that you don't need anything else as you fix your eyes on the Lord and place your hope in Him.

If God is all you have, that's more than enough. We take pleasure in You, O Lord, and You will meet all of our needs. Because we wish to uphold morality and justice, we shall rely on You, O Lord.

We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ. — 2 Corinthians 5:10

I am very aware of my flaws as I consider the judgment seat of Christ. But I find solace in the numerous verses in Scripture that tell me that because I trust in Jesus Christ, I am forgiven and accepted.

Although unbelievers make an effort to avoid thinking about judgment or death, neither can be avoided (Heb. 9:27). However, the good news is that Christ's death, burial, and resurrection set us free from the penalty of sin and the grip of death. We may now approach death with peace and optimism.

Before you meet Christ as your judge, make sure you know Him as your Savior. One day, I will have to give a stern account of my soul before the Lord for every pointless thought and statement I make.

I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel. — Psalm 16:7

Most of the Christmas gifts have already been painstakingly bought and carefully wrapped. Some have been mailed to distant relatives and acquaintances.

However, it all began with a list. You meticulously crafted a list in order to ensure that you bought the appropriate gifts for everyone on your list. It was a list of things to present to the people you care about only.

Because it's so simple for us to slip into the trap of generating lists of what we want to receive rather than what we can give, it's a good thing that we do that.

Sadly, this occurs much too frequently in our prayer life. We often create prayer lists that resemble a child's list of things he wants for Christmas because we need God's assistance so frequently.

Perhaps it would be beneficial to keep two different prayer lists: a needs list where we bring our difficulties to the Lord and a giving list where we give Him our praise in order to prevent being one-sided in our prayer. The following verses in Psalm 16 list things for which we can always give thanks to God: protection (vv. 1, 8), goodness (v. 2), care (vv. 5–6), and counsel (v. 7).

We require a giving list in prayer, as in all aspects of life. Praise for God comes top on the list.

The grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men. — Titus 2:11

The principles that Christians uphold as being true and right are being destroyed by evil forces that have infiltrated the gates. Many perceptive individuals fear that we are seeing the moral downfall of Western society.

Jesus is on his way. For the past 20 years, Christians have lived in the anticipation of seeing the magnificent return of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. The brighter the stars, the darker the night

How we live in the present is influenced by our beliefs about the future. If He were to visit today, would He find us here faithful and true?

watching with joy rather than fear, should He arrive today?

gives hope hints.

3. The church is uncertain as to its direction. Many people who claim to know God actually reject Him by their words and deeds. Many Christians think that the hands of history's clock are getting close to midnight, but they're not sure just how close. Christians must reject ungodliness and worldly impulses and live self-controlled, morally upright lives in this current, evil age, whether our Lord returns today or in a thousand years (Ti. 2:12).

Let's continue to live for our Lord today while anticipating His return.

The soul who sins shall die. — Ezekiel 18:4

Nowadays, it's a common belief that people shouldn't be held accountable for their actions or inactions. Don't blame the person directly; instead, blame their environment, parents, teachers, or the government.

This type of shifting of blame is refuted by God's Word, which also emphasizes personal accountability. A well-known saying among the Israelites was, "The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge" (Ezek. 18:2). However, the Lord forbade Ezekiel from applying this adage. He argued that everyone was responsible for their own sin and had a duty to repent (vv. 20–22).

Scripture asserts that we are not helpless victims of events. The all-knowing Judge will hold us accountable for any actions that go against His holy law. Confessing that we are deserving of God's eternal judgment and placing our faith in Jesus Christ as our substitute are our only options. Consequently, we can be confident that there is "no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus" (Romans 8:1).

We must acknowledge our deserving of God's wrath in order to avoid it. The priceless blood was poured by Christ, the innocent Lamb of God, when He carried out God's holy Word and suffered in place of us.

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth. — Matthew 6:19

The issue with hoarding riches on earth is that they are so fleeting. Some of them, like structures, jewelry, or certificates of deposit, can be destroyed so quickly. They vanish with just a small spark, a theft, or a slump in the economy.

Jesus foresaw a risk that was far bigger. Having material prosperity can dominate our thoughts and feelings and become our god. He declared in Matthew 6:21, "Where your treasure is, there your heart also will be." Additionally, earthly wealth cannot be exchanged for heavenly money.

The same can be said about earthly treasures. They could be valuable here on earth, but they are worthless in paradise. How much more preferable it is to amass the treasures of heaven by serving Christ, adhering to His commands, maintaining moral rectitude, having faith and love, and giving our lives to serving others! To treasure earthly treasures is pointless.

As with earthly wealth, treasures in heaven are accumulated. I'm not asking for treasures to hoard, collect, or rust here; rather, I'm asking for the finer things in life: humility and trust.

He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart. — Luke 18:1

We frequently hesitate to ask the Lord for direction in a difficult situation because we believe we can figure it out on our own. If that's the case, though, we are not yet in a position where God will step in to help us. He wants us to feel as though we are truly powerless.

In order to inspire us to keep bringing our issues to the Father, Jesus used the parable of the widow and the unjust judge. Because our own efforts fall short, we can "lose heart" (Lk. 18:1) if we are not persistent in asking for His assistance. And God longs to help us, unlike an unfair judge.

What issues do you have? Will you fight or will you pray?

Getting on your knees is the best technique to maintain your balance. Bring to God your daily and hourly needs; remember that all things on earth will pass away; and that prayer grasps eternity as the Holy Spirit implores us to do. Pray, always pray!

God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. — 1 Peter 5:5

Let's give thanks to the Lord when someone prunes us back to size. He wants us to be the grateful recipients of His grace because He cares about us.

Even after you believe you have arrived, there is still much to do. To help us recognize our arrogance, to instill in us genuine humility, and to transform us inside, God places critics in our lives.

Godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, . . . but the sorrow of the world produces death. — 2 Corinthians 7:10

Describe repentance. And how can we tell whether something is real?

According to Paul, godly sorrow for sin results in salvation and a new life, whereas worldly sorrow, which is limited to feeling horrible about the effects of sin, leaves a person unchanged and results in death. True repentance does not entail a life without sin. However, our repentance is sincere if we acknowledge that we are powerless sinners, believe that Jesus died for our sins, are relying on Him for salvation, and have a strong desire to live for Him. We've been pardoned.

Repentance conveys both a "I'm sorry" and a "I'm done" message. True repentance drives away the sin we once loved, vowing steadfastly to turn away from it and never longer submit to it.
