Forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you. — Ephesians 4:32

Consider God's mercy and generosity in forgiving completely deserving sinners in light of Christ's immeasurably costly atonement (Rom. 5:8). Recall Jesus' words, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do" (Lk. 23:34) when He begged for His executioners. When we honestly repent and confess our transgressions, forgiveness is offered to us (1 John 1:9). Consider how Paul's instruction to "be kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you" (Eph. 4:32) is made possible by the Holy Spirit.

No new method of forgiveness is required. This time-tested approach—God's approach—really works.

The wicked man . . . is caught in the cords of his sin. — Proverbs 5:22

Humanity's spirit yearns for liberation. But for many, pursuing it only increases their level of servitude.

King Solomon knew that freedom only exists when one is honoring God and His Word, even though he didn't use the word freedom in Proverbs 16. In contrast, people who disobey God's truth end themselves in servitude. Practice of humility, trust, cautious speech, and self-control lead to liberty (vv. 19–24). However, individuals who are subject to intentional disobedience, pride, arrogance, conflict, and malicious trouble-making are invariably made slaves through bondage (vv. 18, 27, and 30).

Do you desire freedom? If you adhere to My word, you are truly My disciples, said Jesus. The truth will set you free, and you'll know the truth (John 8:31-32). The only way to truly be free is through Jesus.

True freedom comes from accepting God's will rather than from doing things your way. Whoever chooses to live for God every day has such freedom!

But those who take a different path are bound in bonds of servitude.

We who have heard the good news and found freedom in Christ have a duty to share it with others who are still under the yoke of sin. Are we exerting every effort to ensure that the message is received?

Do not keep your religion to yourself, though.

Before Your throne, we who are glad to know You Renew

The solemn promise we owe You is to make You known by going.

[Elijah prayed], “Lord, take my life.” . . . Then the Lord said to him, “Go, return on your way.” — 1 Kings 19:4,15

We learn that Elijah was discouraged in 1 Kings 19. After escaping the wicked Queen Jezebel, he was exhausted both mentally and emotionally. He begged God to take his life out of desperation. Instead, the Lord's angel attended to his physical need. A few days later, the Lord revealed to Elijah that his task was not over.

Taking care of your physical needs when you're hopeless is the first step toward finding new hope. then pay attention to what God is saying to you in the Bible. The Lord will reveal to you your spiritual state and instruct you on what you should do to bless others.

As we assist others, God gives us hope. Our only hope when surrounded by gloom and despair is in the Lord, who never once withholds His care or breaks one of His promises.

The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their food in the summer. — Proverbs 30:25

We frequently draw inspiration from the world's most famous people and characters. Agur, an old wise guy, however, steered us in a another route. He listed the merits of the commonplace objects we encounter, such as ants, badgers, locusts, and lizards, in Proverbs 30 (vv. 24–28).

Agur explained to us that although "the ants are a weak people, they prepare their food in the summer" (v. 25). Ants take advantage of the warmer weather because they instinctively know winter is coming. They take part in picnics. They're marching off with the potato chips as you consume a hot dog and a soft drink. They will preserve them so they have adequate food when the snow falls.

For us, accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior is the first step in "getting ready for winter." We are cautioned that "now is the day of salvation" (2 Corinthians 6:2). If we have already done that, we still have a lot of work to do as followers of Christ. If we act with the "wisdom of ants," we will get ready for "winter." By keeping God's Word in our hearts, we can prepare ourselves for challenging times. When we encounter the life's blizzards, we will then be aware of where to locate food for our spirits.

Keep in mind that winter is approaching the next time you encounter an ant. Today is the finest day to start preparing for tomorrow.

Today is the perfect moment to get ready for tomorrow. If we look to nature, we will realize God's classroom is in session, and the modest ant's acute industry can teach us all a lesson.

Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. — 2 Peter 3:18

In your brief time on earth, what do you hope to accomplish? Anything else but fame, fortune, or power?

The overarching goal of the apostle Paul was entirely different. He had a burning desire to know Jesus and grow more and more in accordance with His noble example (Phil. 3:10). He desired to serve God by sharing the transforming message of God's grace.

What do we want most? Do we want to be a machine that produces money but can never provide us with true happiness? Or do we want to resemble Jesus more?

These things I have written to you who believe . . . , that you may know that you have eternal life. — 1 John 5:13

Unfortunately, a lot of genuine Christians struggle with doubts regarding their salvation. Even after turning to Jesus in trust and repentance, individuals continue to ponder the question, "Am I really saved?"

The purpose of 1 John's letter in the New Testament is to assure Christians of their salvation. If you accept God's word as true, you can have that assurance.

Christ's act gives us security, and the Bible gives us assurance. I may rest assuredly in His care and rely on His promise because He gave Himself to save me, and He will keep me until the very end.

We also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance. — Romans 5:3

It could feel like the Lord has abandoned us at times while we are going through severe adversity. On the other hand, we can "glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance" (Rom. 5:3). Yes, with practice, we can increase our height.

To mature, faith must be exercised.

I give thanks to You, Lord, for the difficult circumstances that have strengthened my faith in You. When I had nowhere else to turn, I had to learn to rely on You every day.

According to His mercy He saved us, . . . that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs. — Titus 3:5,7

The mercy and grace of God in salvation were both mentioned by the apostle Paul. According to him, we are justified and freed from the guilt of our sins through God's favor (Ti. 3:7). Nevertheless, he added that it is God's grace that saves us from a way of life that is "foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another" (v. 3).

Let's give thanks to God every day for His mercy and grace. Together, they offer us a full measure of salvation.

Grace and mercy are unmerited favors extended to guilty sinners. Blessed Calvary shines with the fullness of God's unfathomable love; what grace and mercy flowed to us when Jesus died on that tree!

Those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the Word. — Acts 8:4

The mission that Jesus gave His followers immediately before He left them is summarized in this statement. Acts 1:8 says He declared they would be His witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the globe. He also promised them power from the Holy Spirit. That's what occurred when the Jerusalem church in the first century was persecuted. They were dispersed and carried the gospel with them (8:4).

The structure remains after followers of Jesus Christ leave a worship service, but God's people—the church—fan out into the neighborhood. They continue to be the church all week long no matter where they are in the world—at stores, colleges, eateries, and homes. Is the gospel being spread by the church to the world?

The church must travel to the world because the world won't travel to the church. All who require the second birth and the strength to live righteously must see the church's witness in the world with the greatest light.

Lord, what do You want me to do? — Acts 9:6

Ephesians 2:8–9 in the Bible makes it quite apparent that we are saved by grace through faith. Nothing we did could possibly earn us salvation. The Lord's holy standards cannot be met with the best that we have to offer. By putting our complete trust in the Lord Jesus and Him alone, we get sin forgiveness, experience peace with God, receive the promise of paradise, and become the owners of eternal life. Nobody could possibly deserve these favors!

Faith comes first, followed by service. We intend to convert to Christianity. Because we were saved, we serve. The following is that!

While salvation is not something we can earn, works come after salvation. Oh, what can I offer the Master, who delivered me from sin?
To honor Him for dying for me, I'll devote my entire life to serving Him.

As for me, I will walk in my integrity. — Psalm 26:11

David, the author of the psalm, said that he: (1) walked in God's truth; (2) shunned wicked entanglements; and (3) delighted in God's worship. Similar to this, Paul Henry (1) sought to live according to biblical principles, (2) guarded against the influence of ungodly people, and (3) frequently attended his local church for worship.

Paul Henry's and David's example of integrity should serve as an example for us as followers of Jesus. Our lives will be defined by reality and righteous thought as we become more and more like the One we serve. We should pray to God every day asking for guidance in leading a moral life.

True character is identified by their integrity. Lord, help me to live so that people may see the love of Christ displayed in me. Also, please help me to flee from any sin and disgrace so that others won't laugh in Your holy name.

Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones. — Proverbs 16:24

The followers of Jesus were thrilled. They had spoken with the Lord who had risen, and they were overjoyed and sure of themselves. On that first Easter evening, though, Thomas, who wasn't there, was dubious. According to him, "Unless I see, I will not believe" (John 20:25). Yes, the news was astonishing. But if Thomas had thought back to what Jesus had promised, he could have answered favorably. It's possible that he said, "I'm having a hard time believing you, but I can see how excited you are, and I really want to see Jesus myself." Instead, he outright expressed his disbelief, and I can't help but think that this diminished the other disciples' excitement.

Lord, grant us the ability to speak to others in a sensitive and loving manner even when we are doubtful.

Work to uplift others rather than to bring them low. The world would come to an end if it were controlled by guys who said, "It can't be done!" Beware of those who are distant and rebuke every endeavor.
