Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps. — 1 Peter 2:21

 Being a slave has never been simple. During the Roman Empire, slaves were referred to as "human tools." Slaves who were ill or elderly may be discarded like a dull saw.

The hostility of their heathen owners occasionally resulted in further humiliations for Christian slaves. The slaves were given some difficult instructions by the apostle Peter. He instructed them to face the injustice of their circumstances with the same dignity that Christ exhibited. Instead of following their feelings, they were to follow Christ's example of suffering at His crucifixion (1 Pet. 2:20-24).

 That story encapsulates what it means to emulate Jesus. By imitating their suffering Saviour, those slaves from the first century might stand as tall as Christ, even as they bowed beneath the weight of their cruel treatment.

Is an injustice making you feel depressed? Consider your Master! When we stand with Him, we can be tall.

For a follower of Christ, this involves bending down to assist others. According to conventional knowledge, honour is like gold. The strong will prevail, and the others must submit. However, our example broke through this mould by bending down to wash the feet of the men He commanded.

The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion. — Proverbs 28:1

 One of the consequences of breaching the law is a loss of courage, to name but one. The fear of being discovered quickly takes the place of the audacity needed to disobey the law. Even when no one is pursuing us, we still find ourselves fleeing (Prov. 28:1). Eventually, our dread validates and exposes our guilt.

God made it clear to His people in Leviticus 26 what would happen if they decided to disobey His commandment. He said that they would run "when no one pursues" (v. 37) and that they would flee at "the sound of a shaken leaf" (Lev. 26:36). However, He also left room for sincere repentance (vv. 40–42).

Our lack of a close relationship with God is demonstrated by fear. The first stage of healing is confession. God promises forgiveness if we confess our faults to Him (1 John 1:9).

You'll learn that your fear will be running away from you rather than you by being honest with God.

Few things inspire greater bravery than having a righteous attitude towards God. Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, oh my soul! My sin—oh the joy of this magnificent thought—my sin, not in part, but in its entirety, is nailed to the cross, and I carry it no more!

He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water. — John 7:38

 This natural rule also applies to God's children, which helps to explain why so many Christians are spiritually lifeless and unproductive. Even after attending Bible conferences, watching religious television, studying the Bible, and constantly hearing the Word spoken from the pulpit, some people may still appear lifeless and unproductive in their Christian lives.  They have many "inlets," but no "outlets." In order to be active and helpful Christians, we have to "give out" in order to help others, in addition to "taking in" everything that we can!

May the Lord provide us with cool springs so that we can quench our thirst. We have access to the "water of life" since the Holy Spirit resides inside us, and we can use this to bless those who are in need. Let us give to others from our loving hearts what we have first received from God.

Allow the love of Christ to pass through you in order to be a conduit for blessings. Give as you have been given in your time of need.

adoration as the Master has shown you;

Be a true helper to the defenceless,

Be true to your mission.
