 The covenant ark has always been surrounded by a sense of mystery and intrigue. The Israelites constructed this expertly manufactured box to house the tabernacle during their wandering years in the wilderness. The Ten Commandments' stone tablets, a budding Aaron's staff, and a golden manna jug were all found inside (Heb. 9:4). Two golden cherubim rested on the "mercy seat," which sat atop the ark. The ark was located in the Most Holy Place, where the High Priest would once a year stand in front of God.

Although we don't know what ultimately happened to the ark and its belongings, it is exciting to hear several accounts suggesting that it may still be around. 

Even while those unverified rumors are intriguing, the ark's allusion to God's presence is what really intrigues people. Through the high priest, God's presence may be felt by the people of Israel. That must have been a terrifying experience! But things are better now. When we receive Jesus Christ as our Savior, the Holy Spirit enables us to experience the indwelling presence of God (2 Corinthians 1:21-22). 

Yes, there is mystery around the ark, but it is nothing compared to God's presence in our lives.

Knowing God's presence and power are the same thing. In wonder that You can live in me, I bow to You and give You worship, O Almighty, Perfect, Glorious God, Inhabiting Eternity.

Give God some time! The outcomes are gradually but inevitably becoming clear. Before the harvesting in the fall, there must be a seeding season and a summer.

Solomon's advice to "cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days" (Eccl. 11:1) is supported by this.

Continue planting! The Lord will send the crop in His own time and in His own manner!

Daniel . . . knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God. — Daniel 6:10

 We experience the same difficulty as the pigeon in our spiritual walk with the Lord: We struggle to see when we're moving. Between each step, we must pause and reflect on God's Word and will. That is not to argue that we should pray and think deeply before making every choice in life. But there's no doubt that we need to incorporate rest periods into our walk with the Lord so that we can see things more clearly before continuing.

Three times a day of prayer was a crucial aspect of Daniel's relationship with God. He came to understand that we can't perform some kind of spiritual refocusing without pausing. He walked in a significantly different way as a result of his stops, which was clear to people around him. 

Who are we? Let's take this vital lesson from the pigeon, at the risk of coming across as odd, as Daniel did: "Looking good" isn't nearly as important as "seeing well."

 Job must have thought he was on an amusement park ride. He appeared to have everything one day, then all of a sudden everything was taken away. He lost his wife and friends, along with his family, his belongings, and his health.

Despite the fact that you are searching in the dark for Him, someone is tenderly reaching out to you with a nail-pierced hand. Embrace it with faith! You'll realize that your search for God is not a fruitless endeavor; rather, it is the path to atonement for sin and the achievement of your highest aspiration: a close relationship with the Creator of the universe.

 I see homelessness as a picture of the human state apart from God. In the words of the Bible, "All we like sheep have gone astray" (Isa. 53:6). Being homeless in a world that God created for His own glory means denying God, as so many people do today. It is a loss of direction to depart from His moral law. Denying Him renders life pointless. Refusing His love is giving in to the icy grip of sorrow. 

A person's difficulty can be resolved by placing their faith in Jesus Christ. Augustine, a founder of the early church (354–430), once stated, "Thou hast made us for Thyself, and the heart of man is restless until it finds its rest in Thee."

The warm and caring family of God is entered by placing one's trust in Christ (Jn. 1:12). To have hope in Him is to anticipate an eternal home in heaven (14:1-3). Receiving Him entails joining His realm of righteousness, morality, and peace.

 Read the brief letter that the apostle Paul wrote to Philemon, a prosperous citizen of Colosse, for a good illustration of how to improve relationships.  Imagine receiving the news this morning that today would be your last day on the planet. What would you do with its brief hours? Who would you demand to see? Would you act in a much different manner than you usually do? 

Someone once said something profound like, "You should treat every day as if it's your last one, because one of these days you're going to be right." 

There is no avoiding it. One of these days will be our last, whether our earthly life ends as a result of an accident, disease, the effects of aging, or the second coming of our Lord. We should be extremely careful with our actions and words because of this.

By showing our love and thanks to others, attempting to mend fences with estranged friends, or sharing the gospel with a neighbor, we should be tying up the loose ends of long-forgotten things.

You might even have been delaying your decision to embrace Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior until a more opportune time. However, it might never happen. Since you never know when it will be your final day on earth, pay attention to Paul's inspired statement that "Now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation" (2 Corinthians 6:2).

 Ecclesiastes' author had a similar sense of futility. He saw diligent individuals caught in a mindless loop, only to perish and be forgotten. In his writing, he declared, "Vanity of vanities, all is vanity" (1:2). However, he understood that this was not the complete picture. He claimed throughout the entire book that acknowledging God gives life significance. 

And the author of Hebrews said that faith gives us hope and enables us to comprehend the truths that give life meaning and purpose, writing his words after the life, death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus Christ.

Do you believe that life has betrayed you? If so, turn your faith toward Jesus. He was wrongfully crucified so that you could be absolved of your sin and live a life that is meaningful (John 3:16; 10:10). He will free you from those thoughts of futility if you decide to live by faith for Him.

Christ makes life right side up in a world that is upside down. Jesus is everything to me; He is my life, my pleasure, my everything; He gives me daily strength; without Him, I would crumble.

 Even if many people provide their word, we cannot trust what they say. After been let down a few times, we start to believe that no one is trustworthy. 

The author of Psalm 12, David, shared this sentiment. Although the precise circumstances that brought about his statements are unknown to us, he felt surrounded by unreliable people. He bemoaned that "everyone lies" (v. 2 NIV). 

Everyone, excluding God, that is. Like silver that has been refined seven times, his words are perfect and pure (v. 6). We have faith in God. He keeps his word. He can't be lying.

A promise from God is never too good to be true.   O Lord, I know I can trust You even when it feels like I can't trust anyone. I take You at Your Word.

Think about Abraham's reaction to a challenging circumstance. He had been assured that he would father an enormous nation. What happiness this must have brought him! Then God told Abraham to offer his only son as a sacrifice. The command, in the patriarch's eyes, was in direct opposition to the promise (Gen. 15:5; 22:2). 

Abraham executed the command; but how could the promise of God be accomplished? He would have told God to forget it if he had responded in the manner of the individuals Steve Lawson was referring to. Though he didn't. When he followed God's instructions, he witnessed God offer a replacement offering. Due to Abraham's obedience, God maintained his promise.

The path to blessing is the path of obedience. At first, obeying God appears difficult, but as we learn that what He asks is for our welfare, obedience to Him becomes easier and more enjoyable.

What matters is how you live, not how long you live. I only have one life to give to Christ, and I cherish that life more and more with each passing year.
