Similar to this, the Bible's teachings must occupy the messenger of God's heart and thoughts. He can only honestly advise and exhort people to help themselves by being faithful to implement the Word of God to his own life.
Ezekiel was instructed by the Lord to consume a scroll that was written with "lamentations and mourning and woe" (Ezek. 2:10). He could openly proclaim the truth that would save lives because he was obedient to the Lord and first applied the lesson to his own heart.
By ingesting biblical principles and enabling the Holy Spirit to infuse them into our lives, believers must also build a "social stomach" for the world. We can then communicate with individuals in need successfully after being fed with God's Word.
