He who promised is faithful. — Hebrews 10:23

 What about the declarations of God in Scripture? Will they support us if we are in trouble? It all comes down to whether or not we accept them as God's promises—as opposed to merely written words, black lines on white paper, or mere speculations made by flawed humans like ourselves. We can cling to them with confidence as they are God's promises. This will alleviate your fear and give you a profound sense of inner calm.

Our God has been trusted countless millions of times throughout history. And He has never been shown to be unreliable. So let's put our trust in Him right now and add our own testimony to the countless number of other believers who have discovered that our promise-keeping God is consistently dependable.

Our fear is banished when we rely on God's trustworthiness. When the roaring storms of uncertainty and terror strike, stand firm in the promises that cannot fail.

Standing on God's promises, I will prevail via His living Word.

With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God. — 2 Chronicles 32:8

 Hezekiah took efforts to defend Jerusalem when Assyrian king Sennacherib invaded Judah because he was aware that the city would be attacked. He repaired the damaged wall and erected a new one outside of it. Additionally, he "made shields and weapons in great abundance" and "set military captains over the people" (vv. 5–6).

However, that would not be enough to defend the city against Sennacherib's mighty army. Hezekiah therefore gathered the people to encourage them. In response to their bleak circumstances, he proclaimed, "There are more with us than with him" (v. 7).

How is that even possible? In the very next verse, Jesus provides the solution: "With [Sennacherib] is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and fight our battles." They hoped for that. Sennacherib possessed strength, authority, and fame—"an arm of flesh"—but the people of Jerusalem had the Lord!
Are you being pursued by a "enemy" today? Do you have the impression that the opposition is ready to overwhelm and obliterate you? Does it seem like there is no hope? God's child, be encouraged! You are never outnumbered when you have the Lord on your side.

A majority is always one plus God. God is a stronghold, a never-failing barricade;

In the midst of the onslaught of fatal illnesses, He is our helper.

[I pray] that He would grant you . . . to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man. — Ephesians 3:16

 As we study God's Word and pray, the Spirit at work in us to strengthen and rejuvenate our thoughts. Weak and vulnerable, if we stop fellowshipping with the Lord, stop reading the Scriptures, and rarely converse to Him. When it happens, we won't be able to resist temptation or difficulty.

Let's pray the Lord to strengthen our inner fortitude so that we can withstand the pressure of life's blows and sorrows.

The pressure of the problems around you cannot hold you back from the strength of Christ within you. Help us, Lord, to remain in Your power and love no matter what difficulties arise by encouraging us to trust Your Word and not give in.

I know whom I have believed. — 2 Timothy 1:12

 We should be grateful that we don't need to be experts at everything to survive. We frequently have access to the expertise of others. For instance, even if I didn't know how to replace my car's brakes, I wouldn't care as long as someone else could.

But if we want to go to paradise, there is a knowledge for which we are each accountable. I'm referring to a personal relationship with Christ. The only way to live intelligently and be ready for God to appear is through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ in this age of growing information. This is what the apostle Paul meant when he declared, "I know whom I have believed."

Do you recognize the One who bore your sins in His own body and rose again? All other information is useless unless you know Him.
The highest knowledge is to know Christ. Knowing God via His only Son, Jesus Christ, is what eternal life is;

Life's greatest pursuit is to discover such knowledge since without it, it cannot exist.

Without Me you can do nothing. — John 15:5

 If we want to experience God's blessing and strength, total dependence on Him is a must. But outside of painful experience, we rarely discover this fact.

Jacob is a prime example. He has long been a victim of his own machinations. Jacob had a plan, even though he was upset to learn that his brother Esau, whom he had mistreated, was coming with 400 soldiers. He made an effort to ensure that, in the event of an attack, half of his family would live. Then, Jacob was engaged in a wrestling match with a "Man" (God in human form). Just before daybreak, the Man used a simple touch to dislocate Jacob's hip as proof of His deity.

Jacob was left with no choice but to cling to the Man and beg for His favor (Gen. 32:26; Hos. 12:4). This marked a turning moment in Jacob's life when he realized that only the Lord can provide blessings.

We must understand that relying on God is the only way to enjoy His favor and provision.

We will find God to be completely dependable if we completely rely on Him. Once we cease coming up with our own ideas and stop implementing our own plans,

Stop all your futile efforts because God will intervene in grace and strength!

If we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. — 1 Corinthians 11:31

 In 1 Corinthians 11, the apostle Paul encouraged self-evaluation. He advised Christians to evaluate their own worth in order to avoid being deemed unfit by the Lord for His ministry. The "appearance problem" was extremely severe in the Corinthian church. Those believers "looked" terrible. They were pretending to celebrate the Lord's Supper, but they were actually getting drunk and fighting among themselves.

Paul effectively reacted by saying, "Look at yourselves. What a disaster! If you don't straighten out your life, the Lord will have to do it. The apostle then shared the depressing information that God had already started purging the church by causing some of them to pass away at a young age. Although it is a difficult reality, the church still needs to hear it today.

But this warning also conveys a message of optimism. We won't be judged by God if we evaluate ourselves honestly and turn from our sins.

No Christian is exempt from the challenge of self-examination.O Lord, bring back to me Your power, which I once knew through grace; pardon the sin that pained Your heart; and assist me in being honest.

[God] made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us. — 2 Corinthians 5:21

 The Calvary cross offers an entirely different perspective on how to deal with wrongdoing. Despite the fact that the servant is at fault, royalty is punished. When He died on the cross, Jesus Christ, the Prince of Glory, died in our place. He willingly accepted the role of our "whipping boy" and bore the cost of our transgressions.

How much Jesus Christ owes us! How could we ever forget that someone paid a premium to have us! When weaker men could have given up, that is what kept Paul going. He felt sure that since we have a replacement, God is not upset with us. Justice in the eyes of His Majesty has been done. We have never been more free to live and love.

May that encourage us to share the good news with others!

In order to free us from the curse, Christ took on the form of a curse. God's wrath was fulfilled when Jesus suffered our penalty; as a result, we can now live in peace with Him because Christ died for us.

Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb.” — Genesis 22:8

Abraham's faith was put to an even greater test. He had been promised that he would father a great nation, but God then required him to offer Isaac as a sacrifice on the altar. How was Abraham able to act in such a way? He had learned through many years of relying on God for his long-awaited son that his faith in God will be amply repaid. He assured Isaac, "God will provide for Himself the lamb."

Such faith is not created overnight. It is a byproduct of years of witnessing God's fidelity to His promises, and it develops as we regularly decide to take Him at His word.

God's provision is never strained by man's lack. Lord, pardon us for not having more faith in You. May we emulate Abraham in our challenging times and trust that You will provide us exactly what we need.

The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve. — Matthew 20:28

Every believer can take action to assist those in need. Even though we may be constrained by illness, aging, or a disability, we can still call, write, or pray. Regardless of our circumstances, we can effectively represent Jesus Christ. You are not prepared to discuss God with needy people until you have discussed needy people with God.

Lord, make me a beacon of light so that others may see Your kindness and Your love manifested in everything I say and do.

Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. — Colossians 3:2

Feasts of wickedness, corruption, and immorality seem to be what some people crave the most. The publications they read, the television shows they watch, the conversations they have, and the pursuits they make.

The spiritual diet that the Bible recommends is infinitely superior: "Whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—mediate on these things" (Phil. 4:8).

What sort of "food" are you a fan of?  Instead, "desire the pure milk of the word, as newborn babes, that you may grow thereby" (1 Peter 2:2). A new diet is necessary since giving birth produces a new appetite.

O child of God, keep your eyes well-protected from anything that could stain your heart;

Your Father wants you to be set aside, so give up the things that pollute your thinking.

You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you. — Acts 7:51

Stephen offended the religious authorities of Israel when he spoke to them because he was not afraid to expose their flaws. He condemned their forebears and accused the entire council of killing Jesus Christ. His claims were all true. How did they use this indictment, then? Apparently, they "gnashed at him with their teeth" (Acts 7:54). He was expelled from the city and executed. Stephen was attacked with stones till he was killed for speaking the truth.

We too will face criticism when we stand up for chastity, morality, and godliness in a wicked, pleasure-loving world that looks doomed to self-destruct. But no matter what occurs to us, we have the ability to pray to God, just as Stephen did. Knowing that we are His and that He will ultimately uphold us gives us comfort.

 Let's pray that, as God's people, we will have the guts to speak the truth. It is preferable to tell the truth even if you are rejected rather than withholding it only to get acceptance.

Lord, give us the boldness to speak up.

Against the vices of the present;

Because sinners can only select the better course of action after the truth is known.

Our light affliction . . . is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory. — 2 Corinthians 4:17

Jesus Christ's followers are likewise "handcrafted." To make us more like Him, we are moulded, crushed, and formed. Sometimes in the rubbing of suffering, we are polished till we "glow." In the testing ground of regular human experience, we are put to the test. Although the process is not always enjoyable, we can persevere in the knowledge that to God's unending glory, our lives will gradually reflect the beauty of holiness. Trials are meant to validate us, not to provoke us.

Cleanse me from my sin. . . . Then I will teach transgressors Your ways. — Psalm 51:2,13

 Christians would be more successful in winning unbelievers to Christ if they were more forthright about their own wickedness.

We who frequently attend church have a tendency to smile or appear devout on Sunday morning. This might suggest that we never encounter temptation or fall short of the ideal we preach. It makes sense that many homeless or impoverished persons who frequent churches feel like they are the only terrible people there.

This is not meant to imply that we should publicly confess all of our bad thoughts and deeds. Instead, the way to resolve this issue is to be completely honest with ourselves, as David did in Psalm 51. We won't come off as superior if we are honest with ourselves about our own propensity toward sin and capacity for evil. Because of this, God will be able to use us to "teach transgressors [His] ways" (Ps. 51:13) to the most egregious sinners.

Knowing that we have the capacity for sin within us makes us more compassionate toward others who are guilty of sin.

Lord Jesus, please enable us to be open and honest about our need for Your grace and our sin. Give us the character to attract others to You.
