Whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. — Matthew 16:25

According to 1 Corinthians 1:20–25, there are two types of foolishness: that which is smart and that which is foolishness. According to Philippians 3:7-9, there are gains and losses. A humble path leads to exaltation, whereas an exalted path descends (Philippians 2:5–11).

These kinds of claims appear to be contradictions, yet they are paradoxes. A paradox is a claim that combines two truths that, on the surface, don't seem to go together.

According to this proverb, "Whoever would preserve his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will save it.

Who uttered that? Christ Jesus, our Lord! In Matthew 16:25, Christ provided us with that rule.

And the apostle Paul exemplified it by going through a great deal of adversity for the sake of others (2 Corinthians 4:8–12). Paul was aware, however, that his spirit was being rejuvenated even as his physical body was decomposing (v. 16).

You must give up your time, strength, and resources in order to fully satisfy your unique potential. To "lose your life" for Christ. Start living your life!

In the same way that Christ demonstrated His love for us by giving His life in our place, so do we. Take up your cross and move forward; don't consider laying it down until you are dead. Only the person who carries the cross has a chance of receiving the glorious crown.

Those who walk in pride He is able to put down. — Daniel 4:37

The Milan, Italy, zoo was closed down after 60 years and 6 million visitors. Animal rights protesters had expressed their disapproval of the zoo's living conditions for the animals housed there. However, homeless individuals moved in after the animals left. Until the city authorities stepped in, hundreds of people started sneaking into the cages during the night in search of a place to sleep.

Ironically, one of Europe's priciest retail areas was only a 5-minute walk from the zoo. The stores of Italian fashion labels could be found on a street that was 400 yards away from the cages and drew high rollers from all throughout the world.

People who live like animals are sad in some way.

But between those seeking refuge at the zoo and the rich spenders a few blocks away, who was farthest from the image of God?

The strong king Nebuchadnezzar had been forewarned in a dream that, unless he altered his arrogant, immoral ways, he would be sharing the grass with the animals. He was commanded to stop sinning and to have pity on the needy by the prophet Daniel (4:27). Nebuchadnezzar, however, refused, and his worst fears materialised.

Father, pardon us for being arrogant. Help us to live like people made in Your image rather than as animals.

When we are full of ourselves, we are never more empty. Man's ego and conceit are wicked in God's eyes since only by the might and might of God can man accomplish anything.

O Lord my God, I will give thanks to You forever. — Psalm 30:12

I would prefer to resemble David. He cried out to the Lord for assistance while he was in dire straits (Ps. 28:1-2). Later, he was reminded to praise God for saving him (vv. 6-7). In fact, the entire book of Psalms reflects David's heart of thanksgiving to the Lord.

Who are we? Do we show ungratefulness for the Lord's kindness? Or are we continually thanking God for His goodness, like David did?

The result of counting your benefits is gratitude. Is there a person whose generosity I've been assuming? How can I express my gratitude to that individual today? How can I express my thanks to God?

You must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of. — 2 Timothy 3:14

Learning how to spot fake currency is a component of the training required to become a US Secret Service agent. Agents-in-training carefully examine the real banknotes rather than the fakes so they can identify the imitation money right away due to how it differs from the real thing.

This has a lesson for every child of God. The best defence against such error is to be so familiar with God's Word that anytime we come across error, we will spot it right away and won't fall for it, even though it is good to study counterfeit religions and be completely aware of their deadly dogmas.

Many people today are being misled because they are unaware of the tricks being played on them.

For instance, if a person isn't firmly rooted in the doctrine of salvation by grace, he can believe the legalists who add human deeds to the equation of salvation. He might believe the fallacy of those who reject the deity of the Saviour if he is not well-informed about the person of Christ. The only way to spot fakes is to have a deep understanding of fundamental biblical principles.

Let's diligently read and study God's Word. Then, rather of stumbling into error, we will be firmly grounded in reality.

Beware! Truth is often the support that error uses to carry out its fatal operation. Lord, give us discernment and wisdom.
The reality that You have revealed,
Moreover, let us not believe a word.
past what You have demonstrated.
