ADCOM'S PERIOD
ADCOM began in the 1970s. Their initial product was phono cartridges rather than amplifiers. They weren't your typical cartridges; instead, they had "moving coil" designs that were incredibly musical and pulled a lot of data from a record groove. Due to the popularity of these goods, other businesses requested that they start producing cartridges for them as well. And then they started producing things!
Early Electronics... The ground-breaking GFA-1 power amplifier, ADCOM's first electronic device, debuted in December 1979. At 200 watts per channel, it was far more potent than the majority of its rivals and one of the earliest "high current" designs on the market. Once more, it was a superb performer at a reasonable price. The GFA-1 and its successor, the GFA-1A, received incredible praise from the critics and rose to the status of "hot ticket" amplifiers of the era.
The GFA-2 power amplifier, GFP-1 preamplifier, and GFT-1 tuner were a new set of complementary parts that came after the GFA-1 and GFA-1A. These items were also distinctive. High-speed output transistors and dual power supplies were employed in the GFA-2 power amp, which claimed to deliver 100 watts per channel. Record enthusiasts praised the GFP-1's low noise design, while the GFP-1A's advancement added the ease of ADCOM's revolutionary dual recording/listening source selections.
Nelson Pass's power stereo amplifier, the GFA-555, brought ADCOM international recognition. At the time, it was an ADCOM milestone that later became a standard step-up for inexpensive amplifiers. The GFA-555 was a wildly popular product when it was first released in March 1985. It has a sizable, carefully controlled power supply that assisted in creating a very high output current. It provided a blend of strong power, excellent sonics, and tough construction.
DESIGN
The majority of ADCOM concepts are solid and promising.
