AKG Manufacturing company – Microphones, Headphones, and More!

Dr. Rudolf Goerike and Ernst Pless established AKG in Vienna, and it quickly rose to prominence as one of the industry's major players. AKG today stands for passion in music, providing the finest quality and continual innovation in the music industry, and is synonymous with good sound. After the business was established in 1947, the first AKG microphones were soon being used in radio stations, theaters, and jazz clubs. Five employees were employed at the time to manually produce the items (the AKG DYN Series).

The first AKG headphones hit the market in 1949. Then, in the early 1950s, AKG achieved a breakthrough with a number of new products: Completely novel technologies like the D 12, the first high-quality condenser microphone in the world with cardioid characteristics, the C 12, and the D 36, the first remote-controlled multi-pattern capacitor microphone in the world, made acoustic history. The BBC in London was one of the iconic C 12 microphone's earliest users.

AKG's global expansion

AKG also broadened globally as a result of its increasing success by establishing a German subsidiary in 1955. AKG's global distribution network had expanded by the end of the 1950s to include other regions of Europe and beyond. AKG began effectively exporting goods to Latin America and former East Block nations in the 1960s. AKG concentrated on producing high-quality audio transducers because it was concerned about technological quality. All categories produced excellent products as a consequence. In the years that followed, AKG introduced the first two-way cardioid microphones in the world (the D 202 and D 224) and created the CMS modular condenser microphone system.

The 1970s saw constant innovation at AKG.

At AKG, the seventies started out with constant innovation, just like the sixties did. The BX 20, the first genuinely portable studio reverberation device in the world, launched the company in the 1970s. A commemorative stamp issued by the British Post Office in 1972 to mark the BBC's 50th anniversary included vintage microphones with current AKG devices. AKG received its 1000th patent a year later. The K 140 "integrated open" headphones were unveiled at the same time by the firm. The AKG Transversal Suspension (TS) system, the first two-way headphones, and the real vocal microphone line that followed strengthened the high-quality reputation of the AKG products on a global scale.

The first endorsement agreements with singers including Frank Sinatra, Roger Whittaker, Falco, and others were struck before the end of the 1970s. AKG pioneered the development of the next digital technology as the industry leader in technology. At the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, the business successfully used the first units. Following this, the business kept coming up with further digital inventions, such as the BX 25 ED digital/analog reverberation unit or the big diaphragm stereo condenser microphones with cutting-edge solid-state electronics.

The launch of AKG

AKG went public in 1984, beginning a new chapter of tremendous expansion. The AKG US division was established in 1985, and further growth spurts included the 1989 acquisition of dbx Professional Products. With acquisitions in Germany, Great Britain, and other nations, the expansion carried on through the early 1990s.
AKG took to the stars at the start of the 1990s when the "Audimir" space project used AKG equipment for room simulation in outer space. Expansion was another important AKG product strategy. With the introduction of the K Series headphones, the ergonomically designed Tri-Power Series dynamic musicians' microphones, the AKG Blue Line Series modular microphone system, the new C 547 boundary microphone, and the C 621 and C 647 "slim-line" gooseneck microphones for stage and installed system use, AKG continued its product expansion and success.

As a component of Harman International, AKG

AKG joined Harman International Industries, Inc. in 1994. The product line and distribution strategy underwent significant change in the years that followed. Great goods were added to the wireless microphone range that were used by Simply Red, Peter Gabriel, and Rod Stewart while on tour. The world's smallest dual-diaphragm system, the CK 77/C 577, was introduced in 1995. It is huge on sound but smaller than a thumbnail and was created primarily for theater, TV, and film applications. AKG has created the new Performer Series, which features reasonably priced mics for performing musicians, home recording, and karaoke.
The WMS 60 Multichannel Wireless Microphone System, the AKG Hearo Series, and the C 4000 B, the first dual large-diaphragm electret microphone in the world, were just a few of the product advancements that AKG introduced throughout the 1990s. AKG's concentration on its core products was even more intense as the new millennium got underway. In order to strengthen AKG's position as the industry leader in technology, a new production plan was put into place at the R&D headquarters in Vienna.
With the 70th anniversary comes new celebrity.

AKG celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2017, but rather than looking back, AKG is focusing on a promising future with more expansion. The current emphasis is on AKG's strategic positioning in both existing and new markets, in addition to the creation of new regional markets. Many brand-new, cutting-edge AKG items will be released in 2017 and the years after that. AKG aspires to maintain its position as a leader in the professional audio industry by continuing to provide top-notch headphones and microphones.
AKG on stage, globally

International musicians like Frank Sinatra, Eric Clapton, Peter Gabriel, Stevie Wonder, Aerosmith, the Rolling Stones, Rod Stewart, Anastasia, Eros Ramazotti, and Simply Red have long used AKG microphones and headphones on stage and in the studio. AKG is not just well-known abroad; it also has supporters in its own country, including Christina Stuermer, a rising star in Austria, and Falco, the country's most well-known pop star.
