This subject makes me think of Proverbs 15:1, which states, "A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." What we say and how we say it affects not only the response we get, but also whether conflict or peace will be the end consequence. If we put the truth of this verse into practice, how many arguments may be avoided and stressful situations could be defused!
When someone next addresses you in a stern or furious manner, break the pattern by showing humility, calmness of spirit, and loving concern. What a difference a kind response can make in our interpersonal interactions!
Try a soft response to get out of a difficult circumstance. When people are furious, they often speak harshly, but Christ would have us turn this trend around by speaking gentle words all the time.
