Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. — John 8:43

Everyone is talking, studying, and practising communication.

More than just effective speaking, good communication also calls for effective listening.

As we see in today's Scripture, Jesus, who was a superb communicator, was frequently misunderstood. He spoke the truth plainly, yet His listeners misunderstood and rejected what He was saying. Why can't you grasp what I'm saying? He interrogated them. Because you are unable to listen to My speech, He answered His own question (John 8:43). Why couldn't they listen better? They didn't want to hear the truth, not because Jesus didn't communicate well. Why didn't they, then? because it forced them to acknowledge the need for change.

Let's constantly make it a point to communicate with God effectively.

If our lives are cluttered with earthly static, it can be difficult to hear what heaven has to say. Hearing God each time He calls means having a heavenly fellowship; pay attention to His message and respond, "God's will be mine."
