Arise, go over this Jordan . . . . I will not leave you nor forsake you. — Joshua 1:2,5

Joshua was thrown into a position of immense responsibility, according to today's Scripture. He undoubtedly shook with anxiety as a result of the challenge's greatness. How could he possibly follow a leader as outstanding as Moses? He couldn't possibly lead the people into the Promised Land by himself. However, in addition to the directives, the Lord also offered Joshua a reassuring proclamation: "I will not leave you nor forsake you" (Josh. 1:5). Then He questioned, "Have I not told you? Be courageous and strong; do not be terrified or discouraged for the Lord, your God, is with you wherever you go (v. 9). Joshua required such guarantees in order to feel supported.

It is your duty to accept any challenging assignment that God has given you, even if it makes you uncomfortable. The Lord must carry you through. He will do His part as long as you dutifully perform yours.

God provides where He leads! Dear Lord, I will go anywhere You want me to go, whether it's over a mountain, a plain, or the sea. I will also say and behave as You like.
