Though I have all faith . . . but have not love, I am nothing. — 1 Corinthians 13:2

Love is another vital component of the Christian life. As he penned his letter to the Corinthians, Paul underlined its importance. He interrupted the discussion of spiritual talents in the middle to point out that without love, even those who possess the gifts of service, discourse, and self-sacrifice are nothing (1 Corinthians 13:1-3). The "more excellent way" (12:31) has been overlooked. Jesus taught that a follower of him should love his family, friends, coworkers, unbelievers, and even his adversaries (Lk. 6:27-31). The love of a good Christian is evident.

Doctrinal integrity is crucial. Both faith and acts of loyal service to the Lord are wonderful qualities. But without love, we are about as flavorless as saltless French fries.

Ask God to help you develop your love until it overflows into your interactions with others. That is the key component.
