Even though you were well-prepared for the day it would occur, the first few nights are the most challenging. You are no longer guaranteed to know where each child is when you lock the doors and turn out the lights. You can no longer rest as soundly unless you have faith in God.
David offered some consoling words in Psalm 139 that might be helpful to all of us who have to say farewell to our children as they leave home to live on their own. We are always in God's presence. Wherever we go, He is there—with us, with our kids.
According to Psalm 33:13, "The Lord looks from heaven; He sees all the sons of men." Even when one of the kids is away from home, that makes it easier for me to get some sleep.
God has our best interests in mind, so we may relax. Saints safely reside beneath His careful gaze; that hand that upholds everything of nature will properly shield His offspring.
