Unless the lights are cranked up or you step back outside into the sunlight, in which case the brightness compels you to cover your eyes.
Jesus-followers live in a gloomy environment where sin seems alluring and holiness is unappealing. However, we are a light-based people. We must be careful not to accept our society's gloom as usual by growing acclimated to it. Instead, we must maintain focus on what God has declared to be good and true.
The light of Christ in your life is hidden by worldliness. Lord Jesus, I want to live for Thee. I will keep my eyes fixed on Thee so that I won't be drawn to the world or any of its systems.
