With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God. — 2 Chronicles 32:8

 Hezekiah took efforts to defend Jerusalem when Assyrian king Sennacherib invaded Judah because he was aware that the city would be attacked. He repaired the damaged wall and erected a new one outside of it. Additionally, he "made shields and weapons in great abundance" and "set military captains over the people" (vv. 5–6).

However, that would not be enough to defend the city against Sennacherib's mighty army. Hezekiah therefore gathered the people to encourage them. In response to their bleak circumstances, he proclaimed, "There are more with us than with him" (v. 7).

How is that even possible? In the very next verse, Jesus provides the solution: "With [Sennacherib] is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and fight our battles." They hoped for that. Sennacherib possessed strength, authority, and fame—"an arm of flesh"—but the people of Jerusalem had the Lord!
Are you being pursued by a "enemy" today? Do you have the impression that the opposition is ready to overwhelm and obliterate you? Does it seem like there is no hope? God's child, be encouraged! You are never outnumbered when you have the Lord on your side.

A majority is always one plus God. God is a stronghold, a never-failing barricade;

In the midst of the onslaught of fatal illnesses, He is our helper.
