Satisfy us early with Your mercy, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days! — Psalm 90:14

Caleb and Moses are two examples of virtuous persons who did not let their advanced years prevent them from doing good. One of the men who had scouted out Canaan arrived in the Promised Land at the age of 85 and drove the Anakites out (Josh. 14:6–15). Until he was 120 years old, Moses steadfastly led the people of Israel (Deut. 34:5-7). Their perseverance and faith in God until He called them home was the key to their success.

Many people have lived much longer than the seventy years described in Psalm 90:10. They are using their energy to uplift others and serve God, which is how they are still producing "fruit in old age" (Ps. 92:14). Others, who are much younger, have chosen to return home by coasting.

We must commit ourselves to the Lord's service for as long as we are able. Afterward, irrespective of our age, we can "rejoice and be glad."

Stay useful to stay young. Growing older but not retiring, Lord, the fight continues; I'll keep fighting without stopping until the last victory is achieved.
