Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. — 2 Chronicles 20:15

The people of Judah in today's Bible reading were also having problems. They recognized they lacked the strength and intelligence to defeat their enemies. God was the last thing they had. However, this was not cause for despair in the eyes of King Jehoshaphat and the populace. They said to God, "Our eyes are upon You," (2 Chr. 20:12). The promise that He would fulfill was that "the battle is not yours, but God's" (v. 15), and this did not let them down.

Are you in a situation where you can no longer rely on yourself at all? You have God's calming assurance that you don't need anything else as you fix your eyes on the Lord and place your hope in Him.

If God is all you have, that's more than enough. We take pleasure in You, O Lord, and You will meet all of our needs. Because we wish to uphold morality and justice, we shall rely on You, O Lord.
