The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. — John 1:14

Yes, the commercialization of Christmas is real. However, each gift we buy and wrap has the potential to serve as a silent proclamation of the greatest gift of all—God's "only begotten Son" (Jn. 3:16).

We are aware that Santa Claus is a fable and reindeer cannot fly. It's entirely made up. But we need to draw attention to the reality of the Baby who was born in Bethlehem rather than complaining about these unimportant things, which merely focuses on them.

What about the call to reintroduce Christ to the holiday season? He didn't leave, really. Pay attention to the lyrics of the carols that you hear playing nonstop in malls, stores, and on the streets. In a single holiday, they spread more truth than many pulpits do in three months. The magnificent fact that "the Lord is come" and that He is to be worshiped is implanted in the minds of both young and old by them.

Christmas is not a time to be a scrooge; rather, it is a time to invite others to discover the Savior. We have the opportunity to ask our friends and family, "Do you know the true meaning of the season? I do because I trust in Jesus.
