A map and a compass are similar, so is the activity of God's Holy Spirit and the Bible. Our guide is the Bible. Scripture sets out the path of sound doctrine and holiness, Paul reassured Timothy (2 Tim. 3:16). However, in this text, where is the compass?
Paul describes the compass as his "manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance" (vv. 10–14). This is the work of the Holy Spirit. Timothy didn't go lost since he closely followed Paul's Spirit-led example.
Maybe you used to participate in Sunday worship, Bible reading, and prayer as a child, but you no longer do. You're lost now, unsure of what to believe. Check the compass and map once more! Go through the Bible and think back on the lives of your parents, clergy, or friends who followed Christ. You'll quickly find yourself back on the correct path if you follow their lead.
