 King Artaxerxes' cupbearer Nehemiah had been given permission to bring a group of labourers back to Jerusalem. Approximately seventy years prior, it was demolished. While Judah pined away in exile, the temple's wall lay in ashes and its walls lay in ruins. 

Nehemiah was given permission to return and restore Jerusalem in response to prayer. The city was in ruins when he got there. "There is so much rubbish that we are not able to build the wall," the men of Judah said as they approached Nehemiah (Neh. 4:10). 

We are builders too. Sin has brought to the complete destruction of humanity. The gospel's message offers us the solution to this lost world. 

However, we frequently overlook how ineffectual our work is due to the junk in our own life. The garbage of unquestioning habits, spiritual apathy, laziness, worldliness, consumerism, doubt, and worry, as well as a lack of prayer and Bible study. Before we can successfully serve the Lord, all of stuff has to go.

We have to get down on our knees, confess our sins, and receive His pardon so that we can start from a spotless base. Then we shall be able to provide Him with something eternal.

 

God's favour Good deeds are brought forth in life from the heart. I pray: "Try me, O Saviour, and know my thoughts; search me, O God, and know my heart today."
