Are we both going to be here tomorrow, next month, or next year? Making preparations for the future is certainly a wise idea, but we must do so while remaining mindful of the ambiguity of life.
Life is "a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away," as James reminded us in today's Bible reading (4:14). As a result, we should declare, "If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that" (v. 15).
Will you still be here in six months? Let this question serve as a reminder to live obediently for the Lord Jesus Christ right now.
All accounts should be settled today; tomorrow cannot be trusted. We only have the now, so make the most of it by working hard. Do not put off your work till tomorrow because the hands of time might stop then.
