Let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. — 1 Thessalonians 5:6

Imagine receiving the news this morning that today would be your last day on the planet. What would you do with its brief hours? Who would you demand to see? Would you act in a much different manner than you usually do?

Someone once said something profound like, "You should treat every day as if it's your last one, because one of these days you're going to be right."

There is no avoiding it. One of these days will be our last, whether our earthly life ends as a result of an accident, disease, the effects of aging, or the second coming of our Lord. We should be extremely careful with our actions and words because of this.

By showing our love and thanks to others, attempting to mend fences with estranged friends, or sharing the gospel with a neighbor, we should be tying up the loose ends of long-forgotten things.

You might even have been delaying your decision to embrace Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior until a more opportune time. However, it might never happen. Since you never know when it will be your final day on earth, pay attention to Paul's inspired statement that "Now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation" (2 Corinthians 6:2).

Do you approach each day as though it were your last?

If this were your last day, what would you change? Believe in Christ, redeem the time, and get ready right away. The knowledge that death is inevitable should influence how you live today.
