In order to build a witness for Jesus Christ, the apostle Paul left Titus on the island of Crete. For the expanding group of believers, Titus was supposed to name leaders. Finding the correct leadership for the Christians in Crete was the most crucial thing Titus did for them, other than preaching the gospel.
Church leaders are expected to uphold the norms outlined in Titus 1:6–9 and to lead others towards higher spiritual development. And in order to achieve those objectives, followers must gently hold their spiritual leaders accountable.
Know where you're headed whether you're leading or following. Avoid marching in circles.
A leader who is following Christ is the only one worth following. Check the leader's beliefs, pray, and make sure they are in line with Jesus before you follow them.
