God composed the body . . . that the members should have the same care for one another. — 1 Corinthians 12:24-25

When an automobile accident sent them both to the hospital thousands of miles from home, they were separated. The widow suffered severe head injuries and was in critical condition when the husband was eventually freed.

This father might have felt stranded and abandoned while his wife lay in a coma in the hospital, far from his house, his children, and his church. He didn't, though. After learning of his situation, churchgoers in the area stepped in to help.

The couple soon began receiving visits from church members who also offered the husband transportation and medical advice.

This marriage and these individuals were only connected by their shared trust in Jesus Christ.

But that was sufficient. And it allowed them to tenderly embrace a couple whose lives had been abruptly upended. That's how the community of Christians ought to function!

We frequently give preference to members of our own church over those of other churches, as if their needs are somehow less significant because they don't attend our services. However, since every Christian is a part of Christ's body, they ought to be treated as such. Let's always be prepared to lend a hand when necessary.
What affects the child of God affects the entire God family. Reach out in the name of Jesus.
with tender, loving hands
Ahead of those who are in need
And trapped in the sadness of life.
