Oh, that my ways were directed to keep Your statutes! — Psalm 119:5

The Bible is comparable to a car's owner's manual. The driver will get into trouble if he doesn't maintain his car in accordance with the guidelines in the small book in the glove box. But if he diligently adheres to that advice, he ought to travel a good distance without incident.

The motivation behind the writing of Psalm 119 is unknown. He was undoubtedly fully aware of the negative effects of disobedience, but I think he also saw the advantages. He understood that the secret to a fruitful and happy life lay in God's laws and commandments.

People everywhere are doing what is proper in their own eyes at the moment (Jud. 21:25).

Life has been reduced to a debased, joyless commodity. A return to the moral principles of Scripture is what is required.

We must take the time to study the "Owner's Manual" if we want our life to function properly despite difficult conditions and stormy events.

If you follow "The Book," your life will proceed more smoothly. God's Living Book, blessed book, help me glance through its pages; may I see new light every day to show me the road.
