It appears that the Marine's code of conduct extends beyond official gatherings, down to how he is captured on camera. A Marine is a brand-new person, and this should be clear from the way he conducts himself every single day. Of course, this does not imply that he can never unwind or grin, but there need to be a difference in his demeanour given that he is a Marine.
In the Christian life, it is the same. The new rules, which are in effect constantly, include refraining from lying (Eph. 4:25), letting our anger keep us from committing sin (v. 26), allowing the devil no opportunity to tempt us (v. 27), refraining from committing theft (v. 28), speaking dishonourably (v. 29), grieving the Holy Spirit (v. 30), avoiding malice (v. 31), and being kind (v. 32).
We must keep in mind that we always represent Jesus, just as a Marine is under constant obligation to defend the Corps' image.
Christ does not seek sporadic followers. Help me, Lord, to live a life devoid of egotism and conflict so that people can plainly perceive the changes You have brought about in me.
