At my first defense no one stood with me, but all forsook me. . . . But the Lord stood with me. — 2 Timothy 4:16-17

Paul occasionally felt alone despite the fact that his coworkers didn't view him as worthless. Crescens, Titus, and Tychicus were all abroad on vacation when Demas abandoned him (2 Timothy 4:10,12). However, Paul was supported by God and just one other person, Luke, as he stood at his last defense in Rome. Only Luke was with Paul as the trial that would result in his execution began (v. 11). He and the Lord gave Paul the assistance he required to keep a straight testimony.

The people are how the Lord works. He employed Luke with Paul. Today, someone in your life who is struggling might need the Lord—and you!

Be God's heart, hands, and feet. There are needs everywhere. Go be a good friend to those who are going through the darkest of times; pour love and sunshine on their troubles, and you will restore broken lives.
