He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens. — Ephesians 4:10

Jesus rose from the grave after going to the cross to save us. Forty days later, while His followers watched, He rose into the clouds in a stunning departure from our sphere of time and space. He went back to His heavenly home, where there was an unfathomable splendor and gladness.

Despite the fact that we don't often consider it, Jesus' ascension was a crucial moment in His ministry. It signaled the start of His glorious high-priestly ministry. As our unseen Intercessor, He was no longer constrained to being in one location at a time and could be wherever (Heb. 7:25).

And because our High Priest is also the all-powerful Sovereign (Matthew 28:18), He has complete authority over everything and is able to make even life's worst tragedies finally turn out for His glory and our benefit.

What a relief! Jesus is in the heavens!
