Lord, who may abide in Your tabernacle? . . . He who walks uprightly, and works righteousness. — Psalm 15:1-2

According to Psalm 15, a person must possess certain qualities in order to "abide" in God's tabernacle and reside on His "holy hill." The psalmist used this metaphor to describe the feeling of being aware of God's nearness and strength. He claimed that such a person is upright and truthful (vv. 2, 3), as well as without malice. He hates the wicked, respects the righteous, keeps his word no matter what, lends money to the needy, and will not accept bribes (vv. 4-5).

Christians are appreciative of Jesus' death because it allowed us to be reconciled to God and receive forgiveness. But we frequently overlook the fact that Jesus likewise sacrificed his life for our redemption.

We must be willing to move away from everything that is not Christlike if this is what we truly want. Paul commanded, "Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity" (2 Timothy 2:19).

We obviously can't accomplish this on our own. We must constantly ask God for assistance, immerse ourselves in His Word, and yield to the Holy Spirit. As we proceed, God will materialize as a real presence in our life, making us similar to the guy in Psalm 15 who lived in close proximity to God.

A life that is centered on God is a good life. I want to know You and experience Your entire power, so please stir me up and help me to truly surrender, day by day and hour by hour.
