The Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost. — Luke 19:10

 What is God's attitude toward those who are lost? Jesus narrated the parable of the shepherd who abandoned his flock of 99 sheep and ventured into the wilderness in order to find a stray sheep in Luke 15. He also related the story of a father who prayed earnestly for the return of his prodigal son while he waited and watched with a troubled heart.

Those tales show the heavenly Father's character. God made the most expensive offering He was able to because He was so concerned about the lost human race. He saved lost sinners by sending His Son into the world to die on the cross. And according to Jesus, "there is joy in the presence of the angels of God" whenever a sin-abducted soul is discovered and returned to the Father's household (Lk. 15:10). 

Have you caused ecstasy in heaven?

We learn that we were the ones who were lost when we find Christ. The Lord moved my spirit to seek Him, seeking me, as a result of my seeking Him.

True Savior, It was not I who found; rather, It was Thee who found me.
