To receive God's favor, one does not need to be intelligent. Furthermore, attaining salvation is not contingent upon one's capacity to comprehend a convoluted intellectual explanation of religious truth. Very few people could be saved if it were required!
Having faith is necessary to receive salvation. It involves trusting in God and accepting what He has said in His Word concerning His Son, Jesus Christ, and how His death on the cross and bodily resurrection atoned for our sins. It is putting all of your faith in Him to save you. According to John 1:12, "to those who believe in His name, He gave the right to become children of God to as many as received Him."
According to the Bible, the gospel "is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes" (Rom. 1:16). Anyone can believe, regardless of education level, level of information, or level of ignorance. Nobody will ever be able to claim in front of God, "I'm not saved because I couldn't understand the gospel." The path has been clearly defined.
