As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill. — Daniel 1:17

Try to put yourself in Daniel's shoes. A Jewish kid has been told by the king what to eat and drink. But there's a catch: According to God, the food on the king's menu is forbidden. Would you be able to withstand pressure like that?

Many people don't believe teenagers have what it takes to stand up for what's right in cases like these or others where doing so would be costly. Parents frequently believe that adolescence is only a phase to go through. But rather than focusing on the challenges kids will face, we should consider the chances we have to inspire them to act morally.

I believe that Daniel, the young man who was pushed to oppose the king in the name of God, must have had role models who taught him to make moral decisions. And that was evident because he brazenly flouted the king's laws.

Many teenagers share Daniel's intellect and passion for God. Instead of having a prejudiced or unfavorable viewpoint toward the younger generation, they require leadership and encouragement. Encourage the teenagers you know to embody Daniel's bravery.

Children frequently live up to their parents' standards. Continue to be active in their lives.
Declare your appreciation for them in words and deeds.
Expect them to act honorably even if it is unpopular.
Encourage them to have high standards, just like Daniel did.
