Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor, for we are members of one another. — Ephesians 4:25

Knowing what we want to say and the person we are speaking to are both necessary for effective communication. Additionally, getting to know one another calls for a readiness to be transparent about our flaws and shortcomings.

Because we are all members of one another, Paul advised us Christians to communicate honestly with one another. Additionally, he urged us to be "kind to one another, tenderhearted, and forgiving one another" (Eph. 4:32). That is Christlike love, and it offers the safety necessary for effective dialogue to flourish.

Love has no need of an interpreter when it speaks. Since truth and love must attempt to detect what others feel and dread, we should speak the truth we feel with great consideration for those who hear.
