God sometimes seems to have delayed things for us. We pray constantly about something that is very important, yet nothing changes. Nothing!
I have no doubt Hannah felt that way. She prayed to God for a child. In her day, being childless considered a curse. Even worse, she was cruelly mocked by her husband's second wife. Hannah yearned fervently to have a child with her husband. She prayed out of intense suffering and resentment. But she was unable to get pregnant year after year.
How can we explain God's seeming silence in the face of our persistent prayers? Keep in mind that God has greater insight than we do. We risk being harmed if we get what we want. We are unable to see the entire scene. God's timing is not the same as ours.
Don't complain when God puts you "on hold." You can give Him access to your deepest aspirations and wait obediently for His response.
Don't hang up when God puts you on hold! Give us the patience we require and make it easier for us to feel Your love and care as we call out to You, O Lord, and wait for answers to our prayers.
