In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. — 1 John 4:10

Millions of Christians worldwide are especially grateful on this Good Friday because it serves as a reminder of what God achieved via His Son nearly 2,000 years ago.

But why do we consider today a nice day? Wasn't this one of history's darkest days? Self-righteous religious leaders shamelessly crucified God's spotless Son, who went about doing good, healing the sick, and giving hope to sin-ruined lives. That is the worst kind of evil. That more closely resembles the day of God's defeat. What benefit does that have?

Paul provided the solution. God showed His love for us on this day thousands of years ago by sending His Son to pay for our sins (Rom. 5:8). Such love is too deep for a genius to fully comprehend, yet it is so understandable for a young child. And everyone who turns from their sins and places their confidence in Christ experiences this love.
