Even grownups enjoy winning over the respect of others. This innate craving for praise is OK. Sincere praise has the power to inspire us and bring out the best in us. Additionally, the Bible instructs us to anticipate the day when we will be honored by God (1 Cor. 4:5). The issue, though, is that we frequently give more weight to the acclaim we receive from others in this life than to the praise we receive from God in the life to come.
Lord, assist us to think strategically and prioritize Your praise over other people's praise. It is preferable to live for God's approval rather than for human approval. May everything we say, do, or write be done in the Lord's favor; all praise belongs to Him.
