Some business entrepreneurs have chosen to put others' needs ahead of their own in times of need. Others, however, exploited the circumstance and prioritized their own interests over those of others. The same conditions gave rise to both egotistical opportunists and selfless philanthropists.
How might we respond? The only appropriate answer is what Paul says in Galatians 6:10: "As we have the opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith."
Only in proportion to how much we love our neighbors can we truly love Christ. Every act of compassion is an act of kindness toward Thee; may the world see in me the love of Christ for all of my brothers.
