Although King Solomon claimed in Ecclesiastes that everything is useless from a strictly human perspective (1:2), he also took into account God's perspective. Inferring from our existence's creative and destructive cycle (3:1–8), he came to the conclusion that everything is beautiful in its own time (v. 11). He understood that when we view life through the lens of eternity, we will be able to appreciate the beauty of God's ways.
But Solomon also understood that not all of our questions have been answered by God (v. 11). He counseled us to meet life's challenges with faith rather than despair and to accept the wonderful things in life with thankfulness.
When we have genuine faith, we can recognize that even a terminal condition can be "beautiful in its time."
A diamond glows more the more it is sliced. I give my remaining days to You, Lord. Take me, break me, and shape me according to the design You have in mind.
