 A lasting peace on earth has not been attained by mankind, as evidenced by each family who mourns a son or daughter who has died, each war casualty, and each soldier who must live with the physical and mental wounds of warfare (Lk. 2:14). What happened? Why do we still witness bombings, shootings, and the ruin of entire countries? 

We owe thanks and respect to the men and women who gave their lives in defense of their nation. We must also keep in mind that any peace achieved by the use of weapons can never last. Only until the Prince of Peace rules the nations can that happen. But just now, He has to be seated atop our hearts.

He bestows onto us a tranquility within that springs from faith in God shown in Jesus. Even people who have seen the horrors of war can feel this peace with God.

There will be world peace when Christ arrives one day. But for the time being, one person at a time brings about world peace. Do you enjoy that serenity?

Oh, the peace that Jesus gives me,

No force on earth can disturb the peace, which makes the Lord so dear, and which no force from me can take. 

True peace does not come from the absence of conflict but rather from God.
