Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. — Matthew 5:10

Christians have paid a price for being disciples throughout history, including persecution and even martyrdom. For their unwavering dedication to their Saviour, Christians continue to face jail and even death in many nations. A person with a bold witness for the Lord may face jeers even in countries where religion is tolerated.

No verse in the Bible is more consoling than the beatitude made by our Saviour: "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" (Mt. 5:10). This is especially true when we face difficulty because of our dedication to being Christians.

Are your sufferings for your Christian testimony discouraging you? This enduring proclamation, "Blessed are those who suffer for righteousness' sake," is the cure-all.

You may anticipate problems from the world if you live for God. I'll carry the sanctified cross.

until my death releases me,

then return home and put on my crown

As a crown is waiting for me.
