Why do we sometimes obstinately ignore the connection that has the potential to make us the happiest?
It's no secret that our relationship with our spouse is the most important one we have outside of our communion with God. But how frequently do we give that connection the respect it deserves?
God gave us a beautiful bond when He decreed marriage in the Garden. It brings growth, fulfilment, enjoyment, and calm when it is fostered. The irony of this tight bond between two individuals is that, if it is not fostered, it can result in frustration, hurt, sadness, rage, and bitterness.
I therefore ponder why we are so obstinately careless in our handling of this crucial relationship.
We are expected to give our loved ones more attention on specific days of the year. On those days, it is simple for us to show the positive traits that enhance a marriage. But shouldn't we carry this out daily? Don't we always need to love, honour, appreciate, communicate, forgive, respect, and protect this relationship? If we desire the joy God intended for us to feel in our marriage, we will.
You may nourish your spirit by nurturing your marriage. Neglected marriages result in agony and resentment, but those that receive daily care result in peace and joy.
