Isaac was in the field when he seen the camels bringing his bride off in the distance. Rebekah also spotted Isaac in the distance at the same moment, and it says that when she did, she got off her camel because she had asked the servant, "Who is this man walking in the field to meet us?The servant said, "It is my master," at which point she covered herself with a veil (Gen. 24:64–65).
This amazing, sensitive scene is incredibly rich and priceless. The days of Rebekah travelling were over. When her arduous trek through the woods came to an end, she veiled her face as was usual before meeting the man who would soon become her husband.
As Christians, we are almost at the same place in our journey. The Holy Spirit has been preparing the Bride and leading her home for almost 2,000 years. Yes, we do believe that very soon, when we look up, Jesus, our Saviour and lover, will appear out of the clouds to meet us. And like Rebekah getting off the camel, we'll leave our homes on earth and fly up to meet Him in the sky with our bodies all glorified! maybe today!
