According to John 9:5, Jesus declared, "I am the light of the world as long as I am in the world." However, as He ascended to heaven, what became of the light?
Jesus provided the solution prior to His actual departure from this world. He said to His disciples, "You are the world's light. Let your light so shine before people so that their eyes may be drawn to your good deeds and the glory of your heavenly Father (Mt. 5:14,16).
When we combine the veracity of these two claims, we see that Jesus' light endures in His disciples even after His departure from this world. Christ has been invisible to the world since ascending to heaven.
On the contrary, it is our duty as His followers to reflect His light. The world won't know about Him if we don't shine.
Today, in a place where people are lost in sin and darkness, you and I are to be the light of the world, reflecting the love of God. These lost and wandering ones will never know Him and receive the pardon of sins until you and I teach them about Him.
